Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.

The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.

Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.

Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school vacations, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

It is the beach that really makes the St Regis a special place to me. Situated at the foot of Le Morne mountain, this long stretch of beautiful white sand and perfect blue water is iconic in Mauritius. The hotel itself oozes style and sophistication. It is a large resort (172 rooms), but the emphasis on personal service is high. Each room offers the signature St Regis butler service to look after you during your stay. The kids club, restaurants, facilities and spa are superb.

The St. Regis has a great feel to it, a wonderful mix of colonial and traditional accommodation but being just a few years old it is finished to a very high standard. The beach is just wonderful, long and wide and so very peaceful. The rooms are set in crescents along the beach all with sea views, so you can enjoy the sunset from your balcony or the beach. A great selection of restaurants, I would highly recommend the Floating Market for a romantic setting and the most incredible food! A great hotel set in a wonderful location - perfect for kite surfers too!

This is a beautiful colonial style resort with modern touches and a backdrop of Le Morne, with a long stretch of beach this is a wonderful property for both families and couples. Relax all day on a day bed by the pool or make use of the wide range of facilities on offer including watersports and their own indoor cinema.

Offering a wide selection of dining options, I would recommend the Floating Market where the sushi is a must and visit Simply India for the most amazing seafood and authentic cuisine. For an additional supplement, a private breakfast on the jetty is a perfect start to the morning for any couple with your own waiter to meet all your needs.

The St. Regis is perfect for those looking for a stylish stay on the island. The design aesthetic is a modern colonial. Stepping into le Manoir is like entering an exclusive colonial club. Despite its 172 keys the resort still feels intimate but its size means that ample services are provided including a fantastic spa, kids club, cinema, tennis courts and 6 dining options. The setting is beyond compare with the dramatic backdrop of Le Morne monolith and a stunning kilometer long beach in front of the resort.

The St. Regis is definitely one of the most stylish & sophisticated resorts on the island. As you arrive at the hotel you receive a great level of personalized service and this continues throughout your stay. The hotel is definitely a great option for families with children of any age. The Kite Flyers Club is amazing for 4-12 year olds with its own pool, sand pit and play area. For the teenagers there's also a dedicated room with activities to keep them amused for many hours and there's even a fully functioning cinema! The beach area is one of the best things about the hotel; it has beautiful white sand and being so long it feels so uncrowded. There's a great variety of watersports on offer too! The gastronomic options available are outstanding, there's so many good restaurants, make sure to try them all!

The St. Regis offers a mix of colonial contemporary styling with the back drop of the imposing Le Morne rock. A long, wide, white sand beach with an array of water sports on offer and with the convenience of kite surfing adjacent to the property at Club Mistral, this is the perfect choice if you are keen kite surfers not wanting to travel too far. Impeccable service and an incredible choice of dining on offer, I would also recommend a private dinner for your party at Inspiration where you can discuss your requirements with the chef and dine in this stunning private room.

With a wonderful choice of spa treatments at Iridium, just let us know and we can take care of your appointments in advance. The Kite Flyers children's club has great indoor and outdoor play areas plus a splash pool so plenty to keep the little ones happy whilst you indulge in some of what this luxurious resort has to offer.

The style of the St. Regis is really fresh and unique for Mauritius. You can tell that the resort is relatively new as it's very "now" with a distinct French elegance design. The spa was a highlight for me, it felt quite urban and exclusive rather than Mauritian open air style.

The pool here is heated - a real plus slightly out of season and the dining options are really very special. Being an American run company there is a tiny resort feel to the property and this is not for guests looking for a boutique experience however I think that the hotel is definitely amongst one of the best on the island for all round appeal, style, service and activities. Honeymooners will love the romantic atmosphere in the afternoons whilst families are tailored to as required.

A firm favorite with our team and I can see why.

St. Regis offers a wonderful personalized service; on arrival you are taken to your private check in at the butler pavilion. Your butler will escort you to your room and be on hand to help unpack your bags and will be your main point of contact. Straight away you feel relaxed here, with the calming interiors and friendliness of the staff. The beach here is lovely and long and the perfect place for swimming, for water sports head to the boat house. For complete relaxation, the spa is extremely peaceful and welcoming. For families there is the kids club and impressive teens club which is large and has a huge range of games available. There is also a cinema which you can rent privately.

St Regis is perfectly located on the Le Morne peninsular, where you can go kite surfing, play golf or venture to the nearby Casela Park for zip-lining, quad biking, canyoning and segwaying amongst other activities.

As soon as I arrived at St. Regis I felt the hotel exuded a wonderful sense of sophistication and luxury. It has a very calming feeling to it with the soothing colors of the interior design. Plenty of water features also makes it very relaxing and with every room having a butler, the whole vacation immediately becomes stress free. They are there to unpack your bag and if you want a wake up call a cup of tea can also be brought to you! Rooms are kitted out with everything, spacious and all the mod cons. One of the comfiest beds ever! A foodie's idea of heaven with a huge selection of cuisines. Floating Market has amazing Asian food - with such a great choice you will never be bored. The Boathouse has a great setting on the beach and a fab spot to watch the sunset. Plenty to do within the hotel other than water sports; great library to sit in, games room for a game of ping pong or Wii and even a cinema room with three viewings a day of great films! So much on offer for everyone!

The St. Regis is an exceptional property. Even the lead in rooms are incredible here, and the butler service is fantastic. Immediately on arrival, when you are whisked away to the butler pavilion for check in, you get the sense that there is something different about this place. The concept is all about the personal service, so you will get to know your personal butlers really well during your stay, as they will be your main point of contact. The location is perfect for adrenaline junkies, just moments away from the best kite surfing location in Mauritius. Whilst the beach and spa provide you the opportunity to completely relax, the excellent children's club looks after your little ones.
