Shanti Maurice offers some of the most unique and innovative dining concepts on the island ensuring that "Foodies" are well looked after. The resort is also ideal for those needing some rest and relaxation as not only does Shanti have a very tranquil atmosphere, it also has an unrivalled spa with specialist treatments and a particular focus on quality yoga.

Shanti Maurice is a real jewel in the crown of the resorts in Mauritius. Hidden away amongst the dense tropical coastline all suites and villas offer a great level of privacy and with their own pools which can be heated in the winter months if you find the water too refreshing. The array of dining options is outstanding with Stars, Pebbles, Rum Shed, Fish Shack and La Kaze Maman on offer you will never be bored of the variety of cuisine available. The amazing kids club, Le Petit Dodo, is open 12 hours a day and which can ensure you can be as relaxed as possible safe in the knowledge that the children are enjoying their time as much as you.

Set on a gorgeous 1km stretch of beach, Shanti Maurice has a calming effect as soon as you enter the resort. Tranquillity is the order of the day with lush vegetation and natural local stone and woods being used in the building of this idyllic retreat. With just 61 suites, the property has an incredible offering of dining options included on the Half Board meal plan. Ensure to ask us to pre-book in high season for La Kaze Maman for an authentic Mauritian home cooked cuisine and ensure you visit Fish Shack, under the stars and with the soundtrack of the waves in the background.

Shanti Maurice is quite a different style property. It is a small, boutique hotel set amongst luscious greenery with an intricate feel. It has a calm and tranquil atmosphere, the perfect place for a relaxing spa retreat, with the spa being the largest in the Indian Ocean. They offer an extensive list of spa treatments, alongside yoga, meditation and pilates.
I love the Rum Shed; you can enjoy a great range of 180 different rums, from around the world with your feet dipped in sand. The hotel also offers a variety of different dining experiences. This is not only a place for adults, with a wonderful kids club; children can enjoy the great facilities and activities on offer.

Personally, Shanti Maurice is my own favourite property in Mauritius. The suites are great but not anything out of this world, however for me its all about the concepts at the hotel. There is obviously quite a creative imaginer behind the dining and experiential aspects of the hotel. I particularly loved the Rum Shed where you can try different rums from across the globe in a really unique shabby chic setting. I didn't get a chance to do this but I'd imagine that La Kaz Moma which is a special dinner in the herb kitchen Mauritian style is a really memorable experience. The spa here is divine - amazing facilities, I'd happily do a spa retreat here. I liked the fact that some of the suites and villas lead directly on the beach and the setting here is quite wild with a long stretch of beach you can potter along without a string of hotels as in other parts of the island.
I'd highly recommend this property for a honeymoon and also as an option for younger kids as the kids club is tailored towards the younger end.

Shanti Maurice is hidden away on a private 1km stretch of beach. The reef is the closest to the shore here, meaning that the water is best for swimming and that there are no motorised water sports. This keeps the hotel quiet and gives it a relaxing atmosphere. Home to the largest spa in Mauritius, Shanti Maurice is the best place for those looking for a wellness retreat. All villas have a private heated pool, individually controlled to your preference. The dinning options here a re varied, with some unique experiences. Have dinner at 'Grandmas Kitchen' in the herb garden where you can try some local cuisine, alternatively for the best ocean view dine at the Fish Shack on the beach and watch the locals Sega dance. Rum lovers can make yourself at home at the Rum Shed where there are 180 varieties on rum on offer!

Shanti Maurice is home to a fantastic spa with 25 treatment rooms. Lots of unique dining spots here- either the Rum Shack which is home to 180 different rums which you can enjoy whilst you have your feet in the sand. Fish Shack by the waters edge where they celebrate what the fishermen have caught daily- local dancing and just listening to the waves hit the rocks. For a true Mauritiuan experience- enjoy local dishes in the vegetable garden where the food is prepared and cooked by a Mauritian grandmother. Villas and suites on offer. For more privacy the villas are fantastic. Bear in mind that the location of the hotel being on the south coast means the reef is close to the shores so no water sports on offer.

I loved the villas at Shanti Maurice. They are a little smaller inside then other similar properties, but this was more than made up for by the really good size of the swimming pools. It is on a really quiet stretch of beach, with no immediate neighbours. The spa is one of the largest in the Indian Ocean, and the children's club has really fantastic facilities.

Mauritius was great - Shanti Maurice was a very quiet resort which was perfect, lovely staff and amazing food. We could not fault the place, it is certainly good if guests do not want noise and children! We were in honeymoon heaven in the villas, they really are worth every penny and did not want to leave.

Shanti Maurice has recently been re-branded from a destination spa (Shanti Ananda) into a Luxury Boutique lifestyle resort, appealing to a wider market. The spa however, is still one of the best on the island and I enjoyed an incredible one and a half hour massage only to be woken by the soft chime of a bell heavenly. The hotel is located in the south of the island near to the Nature Reserve Valriche at Bel Ombre. This is a particularly natural part of the island, which has only been developed in the last 5 years. The rooms at Shanti Maurice are incredibly comfortable and the bathrooms are huge! I can personally recommend the food at Shanti Maurice good quality, full of flavour and healthy too. The feeling at Shanti Maurice is one of relaxation and tranquillity, but they also have plenty of activities available for those wishing to be more active. I like the fact that Shanti Maurice has taken care to minimise the impact of the resort on the environment and support the local community. Ingredients for the restaurants are sourced from local farmers and fishermen and the staff are recruited from the surrounding villages. Shanti Maurice offers a genuine Mauritian experience.
