Re-opening in December 2017 after a full transformation, the One&Only Le Saint Géran is set to re-define ultra luxury living in Mauritius with brand-new restaurants and revolutionary inside-out living spaces. Le Saint Géran is a beautifully designed luxury hotel on a peninsula on the east coast of Mauritius, with the Indian Ocean on one side and a sheltered lagoon with calm waters on the other. Well established for a number of years, the hotel combines easy luxury with attentive service.
The resort's 142 suites have been completely refurbished with re-conceptualised room plans which seamlessly bring in the outdoor natural beauty with features including disappearing patio doors. Newly created 2 and 3 bedroom suites have also been introduced to offer increased living space for larger groups. The hotel has always prided itself on its cuisine and this legacy continues at the reinvented One&Only Le Saint Géran, with five dining options: PRIME, the hotel's celebrated steakhouse, Tapasake, a unique over-water venue serving a Spanish and Asian fusion cuisine, La Terrasse, the much loved, main buffet restaurant with remodelled al fresco dining pavilions, L'Artisan, a new bakery and coffee shop and La Pointe, the beachside, 'feet in sand' barbecue grill concept.
The resort has a host of activities both on land and in or on the water. The calm waters of the cove provide ideal conditions for kayaks, pedal boats, banana-boat and tube rides, as well as water-skiing; and the coral-sea lagoon on the ocean side offers exceptional snorkeling, windsurfing, Hobie Cat and Laser sailing, and small-game fishing. The vast white sand beach, beautiful flat water lagoon and challenging reef waves make the resort the a fine kitesurfing destination, there is a kite surfing school as well as a water ski and wake board academy, offering guests the chance to hone their skills or learn new ones.
For a more relaxed experience, visit the One&Only spa, partnered with the award-winning ESPA brand and offering a haven for luxurious treatments inspired by indigenous techniques. Alternatively, relax on the 2 kilometer beach and raise a flag for attentive beach butler service. There is also an excellent KidsOnly children's club and OneTribe teen zone with endless activities to keep the whole family entertained.
The resort has 142 rooms and suites and one villa, all featuring an enhanced outdoor space, with either a private terrace or first floor balcony facing either the ocean, beach or lagoon. The rooms have been completely redesigned to bring the beautiful Mauritian landscapes indoors, using disappearing patio doors, continuous indoor/outdoor flooring and island-inspired color palettes. Suites have the option to connect to create 2 and 3 bedroom spaces for larger groups and families, or for the ultimate in privacy and space, the remodelled Villa One offers direct beach access from its stunning patio which features a swimming pool and outdoor living and dining areas.

Le Saint Géran boasts excellent facilities for children of all ages, KidsOnly is a fully supervised club for children aged 3-11 years. The complimentary club offers a range of daily supervised programs and age-appropriate activities 10am to 10pm. These are adapted to all age groups including teenagers with a focus on education, nature, sports, arts and crafts. There is a games and arts and crafts area and a computer and movie room featuring four slim Apple iMacs. The gym and the spa both offer junior treatments and activities. The resort also offers a complimentary laundry service for children under the age of 2 years.
Children under 3 years old must always be accompanied by an adult. Babysitters are available at a nominal charge.
One&Only Le Saint Géran has partnered with Annabel Karmel, the UK’s best-selling author on feeding babies and children, to create an exclusive menu offering tasty and nutritious meals for its young guests. This comes as part of the resort’s wider initiative, The Youth Fitness Programme, designed to help parents and their children develop a healthy foundation of exercise and nutrition on vacation in a fun and stimulating environment. With tempting dishes from 'yummy hidden vegetable bolognese' to 'south of the border chicken fajitas' on the menu, there’s no excuse not to tuck in.

Dressed as mini-gardeners and equipped with watering cans, children aged 3-11 can explore and discover local flora through the Summer in the Garden program. With instruction from the resident gardener and under supervision of the KidsOnly Coordinator, children are invited to indulge in an afternoon of gardening and discovery at the resort’s Kids Only herb garden.

PRIME steakhouse serves the finest Australian Angus Wagyu beef, fresh seafood and organic local produce. The restaurant features open food preparation stations and a 'water courtyard' seating area.
Tapasake sits over the crystal clear lagoon waters of the Indian Ocean and offers a unique concept - a fusion of Spanish tapas style dishes and Asian flavors.
La Terrasse is the hotel's main restaurant and surrounds the pool overlooking the Indian Ocean, with al fresco dining pavilions sitting atop stunning water features. Serving a range of local and international specialties, dishes are cooked before your eyes in open cooking stations.

The extensive sports facilities such as the golf course, three floodlit tennis courts, two Henri Leconte 'padel tennis' courts, bikes for cross country rides, beach volleyball, badminton, and gym mean that you can be constantly active during your stay at Le Saint Géran. Enthusiastic and highly trained staff attend to the specific interests of each guest and will tailor activities that suit. Through the hotel, it is also possible to organize day-excursions such as hiking trails, a visit to the botanical gardens, and trips to Port Louis.
On an island regarded for its fabulous waterfalls, coastline, flora and fauna, guests may discover nature reserves, reefs for snorkeling, hiking trails, and the Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses, known for its collection of indigenous and exotic plants, including the giant water lilies and the talipot palm, which is meant to flower every sixty years and then die.

Mauritius is a paradise for water-lovers, and guests may choose to perfect their skills – or simply learn a new sport – at The John Battleday Water-ski and Wakeboard Academy (JBWA) or VIP Kite & Stand Up Paddle (SUP) School, both offering novice to advanced instruction for a fee. The vast white sand beach, beautiful flat water lagoon and challenging reef waves make the resort the finest kite surfing destination on the island.
All watersports are complimentary, with the exception of kite surfing, JBWA instruction, fishing, parasailing adventures and banana boat, tube and speedboat rides, which are available for a nominal price.
All guests will have the attentive yet discreet services of a personal butler, and a twice daily maid service. A babysitting service is available and individually tailored fitness programs, combine exercise with nutritional advice, stress management and relaxation techniques. The resort's tennis pro is also available for individual coaching. The One&Only Le Saint Géran offers additional personal services such as luggage packing/unpacking, and a complimentary meal for guests departing on evening flights. There is WiFi access throughout the resort.
The One & Only le Saint Geran will close in February 2017 for an extensive refurbishment. All guest rooms will be completely refurbished, an addition of new suites and a re-design of all restaurants.
The Saint Geran will re-open late in 2017.
Location & Directions
East Coast, Mauritius
The One&Only Le Saint Géran is located on a peninsular on the east coast of Mauritius. The One&Only Le Saint Géran is a 1-hour drive to the airport. The east coast of Mauritius is dotted with several lagoons and cove-beaches ensuring shelter from the cool southeast trade winds, as well as the stunning long stretch of beach named Belle Mare. Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean, it is situated off the southeast coast of the African continent, and is 900km east of Madagascar.
When to go
Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier.
The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. January and February, the peak cyclone months, are best avoided by water-sports enthusiasts and divers. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius (although Rodrigues has suffered far more regularly than the mainland) but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.
Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter. On the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler. The highlands are also the wettest part of the island – it can rain here at any time of year, and even when it’s not raining the area can be cloaked in low-lying cloud. When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer.
Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school vacations, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).
