The private Grumeti Reserve is a 340,000 acre (140,000 hectare) safari destination bordering the Serengeti National Park to the north east. It is part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem and sits in the path of the great wildebeest migration, producing excellent game viewing.

Singita Sabora Tented Camp is a small and very stylish tented camp set on the plains of the Grumeti Reserve. Decorated in 1920s grand campaign style, each of the nine tents comes fully equipped with four-poster bed, flush loo, rolltop bath, air-conditioning and telephone. Every two tents share a ‘library’ with a desk and two chaises longues.

In addition to day and night game drives, guests can play tennis on the outdoor court, take a dip in the pool and enjoy short drives in Sabora’s two vintage cars, as well as make use of the facilities at Sasakwa Lodge. Sabora is completely unfenced so animals are free to wander through and around the camp and they come to drink at the nearby watering hole which the camp overlooks. This is the ideal base for couples and families, with just nine safari vehicles (for three camps) covering an area almost the size of the Maasai Mara.

Singita Sabora Tented Camp has just nine luxury air-conditioned safari tents. Each spacious tent features an en-suite bathroom with a bath and outdoor shower, dressing area, reading area, viewing deck with Swarovski spotting scope and a library lounge tent.

Luxury tented room

Each luxury tent features an en-suite bathroom with bath and outdoor shower, dressing area, reading area, viewing deck and wireless internet.

Children over the age of 10 years are welcome at Singita Sabora Tented Camp. It should also be noted that in the interest of safety, participation of children in any game activities (drives/walks/bike rides) is at the discretion of their guide. Babysitting can be arranged for those that require it.

The main area of the camp offers a dining room, bar lounge with satellite television, DVD player and library, elevated viewing deck and a swimming pool. There is also a tennis court and guests here can enjoy the use of facilities at Sasakwa Hill Lodge. Guests can go to Singita Sasakwa to horseride as no riding can take place in the area around Singita Sabora Tented Camp.

The main activities include twice daily game drives with professional guides. Other activities such as archery, stargazing safaris, mountain biking and tennis are all available.

When to go

Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit.
