Diani Beach, on Kenya's southern coast, is home to Almanara Villas, a family-run collection of exclusive, private villas - including the spectacular Presidential villa - situated a mere stone's throw from the beach.
About two hours south of Mombasa, Almanara is the perfect place to end an exciting safari in Kenya, with the Shimba Hills National Reserve providing a backdrop to the Villas. The emphasis at Almanara is exclusivity, it therefore has just six fully inclusive villas, each with a personal chef and maid services to cater to your every whim. Each villa has been lovingly decorated with local furniture and crafts, and is fully air conditioned for those very hot days. Choose to spend your days sunbathing on the roof of the villa or head down to the beach where sun loungers - double and single - are arranged invitingly.
Almanara also boasts a gigantic Presidential villa - straddling the beach, the villa boasts its own deck and good sized pool, and the central area is vast, reaching up to a domed ceiling of glass.
Try your hand at various watersports on the beach during your stay - snorkeling trips to the coral reef and sand island are available, as is diving and the lodge offers kite surfing or wind surfing classes for the beginner. Golf and tennis are available to play as are day trips to the Shimba Hills reserve.
In the evenings, visit the renowned Sails restaurant, which service a variety of pan-African and European cuisine for those who wish to venture out from their luxurious villa!
The six Executive Villas are fully air-conditioned, have three double en-suite bedrooms each and a downstairs cloakroom. The rooms are furnished with bespoke furnishings and have very much a local feel about them. The rooftop terraces and spacious verandas provide the perfect place to enjoy some quiet time with some fabulous views.
The Presidential Villa offers ultimate privacy. The villa has five beautiful, ocean-view double bedrooms and seven bathrooms. There is a very modern feel to the Presidential Villa with its glass walkway and bright atmosphere.
All your meals are inclusive during your stay. Your personal chef will cater to your needs and serve up a range of delicious cuisine. Meals can be enjoyed on the veranda, in the dining room or anywhere else you fancy eating. Should you wish to dine outside of your villa, the Sails Beach Bar and Restaurant on site is an excellent choice. Here you can enjoy a selection of sumptuous international cuisine whilst taking in the fun atmosphere of the restaurant. Live bands and entertainment can be organized upon request, while music and a peaceful atmosphere is the norm.
There are a number of activities available for you to partake in during your stay. If water sports is your passion, you can embark on kite surfing and windsurfing. If you'd like to get to know the local wildlife and sea life why not take a safari trip, do some snorkeling on the coral reef or some scuba diving. If you would like to play a spot of tennis or golf that can be arranged. Boat trips to see nearby sights of interest are a must. If you are in need of a bit of pampering, the Cloud Nine Health Spa will attend to your needs with its range of massages and beauty treatments on offer.

When to go
The rainy season on the Kenyan Coast is generally during May and June. So from July onward the weather is gradually getting hotter and dryer until March/April when it reaches the high 90's (over 40 degrees C). Christmas/New Year is generally considered the peak season and the weather is lovely then with constant sunshine and gentle off shore breezes. If you want clear seas for diving then make your trip after August/Sept.
