The main season is in January and February, when the weather is hottest and driest. At this time, the animals in the wildlife parks tend to congregate more around the watercourses, making them easier to spot.
Northern and eastern Kenya temperatures vary from highs of up to 40°C during the day to less than 20°C at night. Rainfall in this area is sparse and, when it does occur, is often in the form of violent storms. July is usually the driest month, and November the wettest.

Located on the award-winning Ol Pejeta Conservancy sits the wonderfully private Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages. Nestled along an acacia tree line, cottages offer comfort of a home away from home, with each cottage coming with its own private vehicle and guide.
Created as a dream project by safari industry veterans, Andy and Sonja Webb, Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages is a collection of gorgeous cottages with incredible views over the Laikipia plateau. Looking out onto the undulating landscape, guests will feel complete privacy and exclusivity as if they are the only ones in Africa.
Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages is comprised of four cottages, Moja Juu, Moja Chini, Mbili and Tatu. All offering every comfort of home, the cottages are also entirely self-sufficient coming complete with a personal chef, and private guide and a 4WD safari vehicle at no extra cost, to offer complete flexibility and freedom for each group. Cottages are large and spacious and individually designed with a private dining area and extensive verandas overlooking the beautiful Laikipia landscape. What makes Ol Pejeta Cottages so unique is the personalised service offered by Andy and Sonja and their attention to detail in the individually designed cottages and experiences on offer. Cottages are situated close to a river, with elephants often seen coming past the cottages and up to the river to drink. In the evening a camp fire is lit so guests can enjoy the heat from the fire whilst marvelling at the stars above.
With each cottage having a personal guide, guests can explore the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and surrounding Laikipia area at their leisure to find a wealth of game, including the Big Five and abundant birds in the area. Perfect for keen photographers and beginners alike, game drives are tailored around guests needs. You could even dine with a difference and have breakfast in the bush, a picnic lunch, or private dine in your cottage.
The four cottages that make up the property offer complete comfort and provide a home away from home feel. Two cottages provide plenty of space for couples or small families, while the other two larger cottages are ideal for groups of friends or larger families. All individually designed, the cottages come complete with a designated kitchen, personal chef, dining and lounge areas and large verandas.
Moja Juu is a single bedroom cottage tucked away in the bush away from the main areas. This is ideal for couples after some privacy, or small families.
Moja Chini is also nestled away in the bush with Moja Juu. This cottage is also ideal for couples or small families, especially those who are after a little more privacy.
Mbili is Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages pioneer cottage and is the largest and most central cottage. The two en-suite bedrooms open out onto a large veranda with beautiful views looking over the river and plains. This is perfect for larger families or groups of friends. Mbili comes complete with an open plan living and dining area as well as a dedicated kitchen and chef.
Tatu is the younger brother of Mbili and comes as a perfect combination cottage for larger groups. It also works well as a stand-alone cottage with thick bushes between to offer privacy when needed. The cottage has two bedrooms, bot with en-suite bathrooms as well as a spacious living and dining area with an open fire. Tatu also has it's own kitchen and chef.
Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages offer a range of exciting activities based around the Laikipia wilderness for guests to experience the bush and the wildlife that lives there. Each day will start with a game drive here guests can head out to find some animals in the bush. A dawn drive is also possible, coming with a bush breakfast picnic. Drives throughout the day are possible, all of which can be tailored around guests needs, including at night so guests can try to find some of the more elusive nocturnal animals. For those wanting to travel a little further afield, day trips are available to places like the Aberdare mountain range, the Samburu National Reserve or even Mount Kenya.
