Over the past decade Tropic Air has developed a reputation as the leading helicopter safari operator in Africa. If you've watched Attenborough's 'Africa', or any number of incredible National Geographic productions, you will more than likely have spotted the distinctive blue Eurocopters transporting documentary makers and film crews to jaw-dropping locations across Africa.
Best known for the remarkable East African itineraries: soaring above Mount Kenya, low over the rivers of Samburu and along the other-worldly shores of Lake Turkana, landing in locations accessible by no other means than heli. The fleet of Eurocopters have been chosen for their quality in hot, dusty environments and at high altitudes, perfect when a journey can take you over the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and down to the depths of Ethiopia's Danakil Depression.
Tropic Air can offer you an experience which is totally unique. This vacation is a complete one-off, it will take you to places which will leave you lost for words on an hourly basis. Land where no-one else has ever set foot, see Africa from a totally different perspective. This has got to be the ultimate African safari experience!
Each Eurocopter can carry four passengers with their pilot. Tropic have three helicopters based in Nanyuki and one in Addis Adaba, larger groups regularly call upon two or more aircraft, either for pure logistics, or to guarantee extra flexibility to the vacation.
Together we will organize an itinerary which has you staying in just the right type of accommodation to guarantee you the vacation of a lifetime. The helicopter is obviously the star of the show, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy waking up in some of the most jaw-dropping safari camps and lodges in Africa.
The pilots of Tropic Air are family men themselves, and when not working they are the first to get out on safari with their families. Every itinerary is different and families with young children can benefit from this ultimate African experience in the same way as older groups. Just talk to us and we will advise an itinerary which will match the experience you are looking for.
This is very much determined by the camps you are going to be staying in, but rest assured you will be looked after by highly trained and passionate guides, management and camp staff throughout your vacation. Set off each day with cooler boxes and hampers packed with delicious picnic lunches and enjoy the magic drinks boxes in jaw-dropping locations.
Again, determined by the locations you choose for your safari, but there is no limit to what you can experience. The helicopter gives you the means to spend the morning tracking rhino on foot, fly-fish on the lakes of Mount Kenya at lunchtime and sharing stories with the Samburu by evening. The other-worldly landscapes are the perfect setting for a safari which will astound you by its rich diversity.

If you're thinking further a field, flying over the Kalahari when the desert turns green from brief rains is spectacular. Choose July to October to soar over the million strong herds of the migration in the Maasai Mara. The options are so good it will be hard to chose your itinerary, so call us and we can talk you through the highlights of the continent.
