Santiago is a year-round destination but the most pleasant months to visit are October to April. Although summer (November to April) is hot, breezes disperse the smog that shrouds the city for most of the year and there is lots of sunshine. Over winter (June to September) you’ll see the Andes wreathed in snow and can ski nearby, but the weather is chilly and rain can be an issue. Spring-like September is Chile's national independence month, and is full of activity.

The W Hotel is an ultra-sophisticated luxury city hotel in Santiago that offers contemporary chic and a great location for dining out and exploring the fashionable shopping hotspots, culture, and nightlife of Chile's up and coming capital.
Against the panoramic backdrop of the snow-capped Andes, the W is a sophisticated urban retreat from the bustle of Santiago’s glitzy skyscrapers, vibrant streets and buzzing nightlife.
Located in the fashionable El Golf district of Santiago, the W Santiago is a fashion-forward hotel that provides a dose of South American cool. As with all W's music plays an important role as well as vibrant splashes of colour in the decor.
The hotel has 196 guest rooms and suites offering hip interiors, cutting-edge technology and state of the art modern amenities. The W Hotel boasts three fantastic restaurants of which Osaka is particularly noteworthy serving a fusion of Peruvian, Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisine prepared by the renowned chef Ciro Watanabe. Enjoy a drink in the W Lounge, pamper yourself at the spa, bask by the pool or even dance the night away in Wiskey Blue, the hotel's very own nightclub.
After a day of strolling through the cobblestone streets of the city and scoring some coveted shopping finds in the Providencia neighbourhood, the heated rooftop pool and bar with expansive views of the Chilean Andes is impressive.
Among the hotel’s 196 rooms are 20 suites, 16 “Cool Corner” rooms featuring especially attractive views of the city, and four of the W’s signature WOW suites. Decor is cool, and features a see-through glass-encased shower next to the bedroom, a flat LCD television on the wall, a floor-to-ceiling windows looking out either over the city or towards the Andes. Some rooms and suites have balconies.
Children are welcome to come and stay at W Hotel Santiago, and babysitting can be arranged upon request, but there are no specific facilities or interconnecting rooms available.
W Hotel Santiago has superb facilities including three restaurants, a rooftop infinity pool, a wellness club, a bar, a wine wall, and a spa and fitness centre

The W Hotel is the glamorous go-to hotel in Santiago and with its buzzy vibe is ideal for people who like to see and be seen. The rooftop swimming pool with views out over the city and Andes, helipad ready to whisk guests off to the slopes during the ski season, funky retro inspired guest rooms, Whiskey Blue nightclub and choice of excellent restaurants add to the wow factor.
A Buenos Aires friend once told me he thought that the main qualitative difference between his city and Santiago, Chile, was that in Buenos Aires it feels like there is always a low-level party going on. The new W Santiago, the first of a series of hotels planned for South America by the hotelier Starwood, gives me the same feeling as soon as I walk through the door.
Following the W playbook, in the lobby and elevators there is the constant hip, techno, electric dance beat piping into the air. This is a hotel that oozes with a sexy, festive ambience. The Santiago branch, which opened in August 2009, I am told has already made its way up to the top echelon of nightspots for the city’s elite party set. With its three bars, an excellent Sushi restaurant, and an indoor-outdoor French restaurant, there are a lot of upscale options under one roof. As the local PR director told me: “We don’t want our guests to ever have to leave the building.”
