Meet the Eagle Hunters
Enjoy a demonstration of traditional hunting with berkut (eagles). A berkutshi (eagle keeper) whose ancestors were hunters as well, will tell you about birdkeeping and about different hunting traditions.
Eagle hunting has a long history in the Central Asian steppe, with archaeologist tracing back the history to the first or second millennium BC. Most of the eagle hunters in Kyrgyzstan today lives in the village of Bokonbaevo, though we can also arrange the eagle hunters to do the demonstration at another location within the Southern Issyk Kul shore at an extra cost.
