Visit Burana Tower, a minaret completed in the 11th century and take the stairway up to the top for a view of the Chuy Valley.
Burana Tower stands tall at the remains of what used to be the ancient city of Balasagun, the capital of Kara-Khanid Khanate circa the 10th century before it falls into the hands of the Mongols in 1218.
The tower is 45 metres high. For those who are not claustrophobic, you can take the narrow stairways inside the tower up to a viewpoint at the top, where the surrounding rural countryside beauty of Chuy Valley can be admired.
