Private Sushi Class with Nishiki Food Market
Shop for ingredients at the historical Nishiki Market, while tasting different Japanese foods. Afterwards, head to the studio for a private cooking class, guided by experienced instructors, before enjoying your culinary creations for lunch.
The experience begins at Nishiki Market, known as “the kitchen of Kyoto”, a long and narrow shopping lane lined by dozens of food stores and restaurants. As you wander through it on your walking tour, you will be introduced to Japanese sweets, pickles, dried seafood and colourful fresh seafood, all artfully displayed alongside knives and cookware. Almost everything sold at the market is locally produced and procured and its history dates back 1200 years. After you’ve tasted some of the local delicacies, you'll head to the nearby Kawaramachi cooking studio to take part in a private cooking class with expert instructors. This may include preparing miso soup and a donburi rice bowl meal with tempura, vegetables, seafood or beef. Lunch will be the meal you’ve carefully prepared, the perfect way to end this unique gourmet experience.
