Nara Exploration in a Day Trip
Make a trip to Nara and visit the Deer Park, Todaiji and Kasuga Grand Shrine. In the afternoon, wander in the old town of Naramachi, with its charming Edo period architecture. If time permits, explore the ancient Gangoji Temple.
Today, take a day trip to Nara, the oldest capital in Japan and steeped with Japanese history and traditions. Visit the famous Deer Park and get the chance to interact with the deer roaming about. Head to the Todaiji, the Great Eastern Temple and one of the largest wooden building of the world with the 15 meter tall Buddha image. Take a 30-minutes walk along an old trail from Todaiji to the Kasuga Grand Shrine, known for its great amount of stone and bronze lanterns.
This afternoon, enjoy a walking tour of the old town of Naramachi and admire the old Edo architectural style. If time permits, walk to the ancient Gangoji Temple, one of the oldest temples in Japan and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
