The climate in Alta Badia, where Corvara is located is a typical alpine microclimate - daytime temperatures in winter from December to February are usually below zero and night time temperatures can fall to minus 20c. Winters are snowy but approximately 100 days of sunshine between December and March is the norm.

Description
Located in the heart of Corvara ski area in the Dolomites, the Col Alto is a traditional and family friendly hotel with easy access to the Dolomiti Superski and the Sella Ronda ski areas. It features a large wellness area and swimming pool.
There is a wide variety of rooms and suites at the Col Alto which all have an Alpine style warmth and fabulous views of surrounding Corvara.
The hotel's gourmet restaurant specialises in regional specialties with local flavours and
products alongside typical Italian and international cuisine. To cater for different diets there are also options for vegetarian, gluten free or the 'light' menu. Dishes can be enjoyed with a vast choice of quality wines from the hotel's wine cellar.
The lobby with its picturesque fireplace and the hotel bar are great places to kick back and relax and enjoy a drink or the Iceberg bar for something a bit more upbeat and some bubbles and cocktails.
As a family friendly hotel, little ones are well catered for with a mini club and two games rooms containing a mini cinema, indoor climbing wall, games consoles and more.
An ideal way to relax after a hard day's skiing, or for non-skiers, is in the large (1000m2) wellness area with spa and indoor swimming pool with fabulous views. Facilities include a Turkish bath, tepidarium, Finnish sauna, aromatic herbs bath, sea salt steam grotto, hydro-massage footbath, ice fountain and a gym as well as a wide range of treatments offered in the spa.
Corvara is a vibrant village located in the Alta Badia region where guests are made to feel at home. Full of tradition, the locals pride themselves on their hospitality and on preserving their folklore. The village gives easy access to the vast Dolomiti Superski and Sella Ronda ski areas where skiing, snowboarding, sledding and cross country skiing can be enjoyed against a breathtaking backdrop of the Dolomites.

The hotel restaurant offers gourmet dining specialising in regional gastronomic specialities with local flavours and products as well as typical Italian and international dishes. The half board option includes breakfast and a 4-course dinner.
There is a superb, large wellness centre with a beautiful indoor swimming pool with a view of the mountains. The wellness centre includes a Turkish bath, tepidarium, Finish sauna, aromatic herbs bath and a sea salt steam grotto amongst others. A great treat for relaxing after an active day on the slopes.

Activities
The hotel offers a complimentary ski shuttle service to the nearest ski lifts (400m) giving access to the vast Dolomiti Superski and Sella Ronda ski areas. On the way back the hotel can be reached directly on skis. Other activities in the area include sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and Nordic walking trails.
Alternatively a day or so can easily be spent in Col Alto's spectacular wellness centre with its large swimming pool and spa.

It was an amazing resort with a very good hotel and we were able to ski everywhere despite there not being any snow in the village or surrounding areas, its just brilliant, skiing in the sunshine and not having to deal with slush.

If you prefer a modern and stylish hotel, then the Col Alto is for you. The hotel has had a recent makeover, and features regenerated wood from the familys barn throughout the lounge area and local textiles on the furnishings. Rooms are modern and cosy with wooden finishing and some featuring fabulous fire places. The Suite Panorama is spacious and features a large terrace facing the mountains with a private hot tub.
Kids are catered for especially well at the Col Alto with a very large mini club and 2 games rooms for the older kids. While the kids play, the adults can enjoy the spa which features numerous different sauna and steam rooms to suit all. The pool is large, and features a salt water Jacuzzi.
The bar at the front of the hotel is the local trendy hot spot for an after dinner drink or two, open until late with a DJ too.
Ski accessibility is superb, with ski in access (snow dependent) and a free shuttle taking you from the ski room the slopes in just one minute.
