  • Made up of 36 luxuriously rustic designed suites and overwater villas, Bawah Reserve offers an eco-friendly luxury escape. All rooms have different features but the overwater bunglows with their canopied beds are our favourites.

  • Whether you are wanting a castaway style holiday or an buddle of activities to keep you occupied Bawah can cater for all. We suggest the traditional activites such as batik paiting which is a piece of local clothing and serving up your own cup of jumi which is a trational healthy tonic.

  • Bawah has put sustainability at the forefront throughout its development and there is so much we can say about their work but we would simply run out of space. You can of course get more involved at the property by taking part in the marine conservation dives and learnign about the Anambas Foundation.

Bawah Reserve, formerly Bawah Island, is a private island experience like no other. Combining luxury design and an back-to-nature concept, it is an eco-resort made up of six islands that sit in the Anambas Islands between Malaysia and Borneo. With crystal clear waters and excellent snorkelling, this is barefoot luxury at its best.

Bawah brings a new level of luxury adventure to Indonesia with its 36 suites and overwater bungalows nestled within the islands' lush green jungle. Located on previously uninhabited islands, there are thirteen incredible beaches here all for yourself.

The suites themselves are elegant yet understated in a true Robinson Crusoe style. Each complete with their own balcony, the Garden Suite, Beachfront Suite and Deluxe Beachfront Villa have all been built using bamboo and canvas tented-like material and are extremely spacious. However, it is the overwater bungalows that really stand out; perfect for couples wanting privacy and suspended over the shallow coral reef.

Elsewhere at the reserve, there is also a spa complete with four treatment rooms, a tennis court, yoga deck and plenty of non-motorised water sports including kayaking and paddle boarding. In the evenings there's even an open air cinema to enjoy a romantic evening watching a film under the stars.

Food is also a big part of the Bawah experience and there are plenty of dining options to enjoy. Please note, your stay at Bawah is on an all-inclusive basis. Choose from The Boat House Bar & Restaurant, the beautiful Treetop Club House Restaurant or head to The Grouper Beach & Pool Bar for light snacks throughout the day. There's even a lookout bar named after the famous French author Jules Verne, known for writings about extraordinary voyages.

Head out and explore for yourself, making your way along the wooden walkways over the azure blue lagoons. There are three sheltered lagoons at Bawah, perfect for snorkelling. Further afield, the resort's diving instructors can take you on diving expeditions to see the incredible marine life that inhabits these shores or a guide can take you on a hike around the island.

Be it honeymoon couples or families with teens wanting to explore, Bawah is a perfect paradise which can be easily combined with a stay in Singapore or other parts of Indonesia and beyond.
