My love of Africa stems from two experiences, my first safari in the Serengeti, when we arrived in Arusha and spent five days camping in the national park listening to the sounds of lions at night and wondering whether we would be better sleeping in the car! Then we borrowed a battered old land cruiser and based ourselves with family in Botswana and explored!
Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia were all incredible. I loved the people, the landscape, the wildlife I was hooked.
Since joining Scott Dunn many moons ago I have continued to explore the continent and the highlights are too many to list but running with chimps in the Mahale Mountains, touching down on the Skeleton Coast with the Schoemans, being up close and personal with Lemurs in Madagascar and watching breaching whales in South Africa are definitely hard to beat. But now two children later and a sabbatical spent in West Africa I can start to see what Africa has to offer families, seeing my five year old hand in hand with a Samburu warrior learning about the toothbrush tree has to be my highlight!
