In the lower foothills you will find former colonial hill stations such as Shimla, Mussoorie and Almora. The former Kingdom of Sikkim is tucked between Nepal and Bhutan and is a perfect place to trek. To the the south you will find Darjeeling with its many tea estates and colonial hotels.
