Bali’s climate is warm and humid, temperatures averaging between 21°C and 31°C. Short bursts of rain occur from November until April, making the velvet green landscape come alive. April to October is the dry season, although in hilly Ubud, you rarely feel too hot.
Festival periods can get busier. In Ubud, however, you never feel the crowds. This is the advantage Ubud has over the south coast area that can get packed to bursting around August, Christmas and New Year.

If you're wanting to stay somewhere a little more unique and off the beaten track, then this is a great option. Located just a 15-minute drive outside the centre of Ubud sits quirky Sandat Glamping Tents. Sat amongst lush green rice terraces, the property is made up of five luxury tents and three wooden Lumbungs, which traditionally would have been used as rice warehouses.
The three Lumbungs share a swimming pool which is located directly in front of the wooden structures, whilst the five tents each of their own private plunge pool. All of the rooms have been made as eco-friendly as possible and this is particularly noticeable through the lack of a telephone in the room. Instead, guests summon their butler using a wooden instrument!
There is a complimentary shuttle service made available to guests throughout the day, as well as onsite chargeable activities. Treks, tours and white water rafting can be arranged through the concierge service.
You shouldn't expect 5* luxury here, but if boutique, quirky properties are what you're looking for, then this is a superb choice.
There are 8 separate units at Sandat Glamping Tents, made up of 3 traditional Lumbungs, 2 Suite Tents and 3 Luxury Tents.
The eco-friendly Lumbungs are designed in the style of traditional rice warehouses and feature an Alang-Alang thatched roof, a beautiful canopy bedroom and an open-to-sky bathroom. Each of the Lumbungs share a swimming pool, located directly in front of the rooms.
They are also a great option for families as the downstairs living space can be turned into a second bedroom with two single beds.
The Lumbungs have A/C.
Each of the Luxury Tents have an infinity plunge pool and are surrounded by the lush forest. The tents are open plan with a small divider between the bedroom area and the bathroom (shower) and are equipped with mosquito nets, a seating area and an iPod docking station.
The Tents have fans, but no A/C unless specifically requested.
The Suite Tents are exactly the same as the Luxury Tents, aside from the fact that they come with a round bed instead.
Children are very welcome at Sandat Glamping Tents although no formal children's activities or facilities are available.
Sandat Glamping Tents offers guests a relaxing communal area with large sofas and armchairs, board games and a well stocked library. A cooking class is also good fun as you can go to the markets first to get your ingredients before heading back to the hotel to cook and then eat. If you're keen to work on your craft skills, why not try your hand at Batik painting or even design and make an original silver piece of jewellery. These are just a few of the things you can do!
