To start planning your holiday to Red Cliffs Lodge
Red Cliffs Lodge sits high on the banks of the Colorado River surrounded by 2000 feet of sheer cliffs. Decks and porches encircle the main lodge. The restaurant deck and patio faces up river to the east with an uninterrupted view of Fisher Towers.
If you crave a break from the ordinary, a unique retreat from the all-too-familiar, plan your next travel experience at the Red Cliffs Adventure Lodge. Located 14 miles up the Colorado River on scenic Hwy 128 from downtown Moab, the hotel is situated beside the river's best white water rapids, at the foot of dramatic Red rock cliffs. It's a classic, rugged Western landscape worthy of Hollywood, and was in fact the site of numerous films, including Rio Grande with John Wayne. A stay here almost feels like stepping back in time, however don't worry - you'll still find comfort and modern amenities throughout.
Red Cliffs Lodge is home to the Castle Creek Winery, the largest in Utah, with daily wine tasting. In addition, the hotel maintains the Moab Movie Museum, which tells the rich history of movie making in the region and features fascinating facts and memorabilia from those films. The Cowboy Grill, a terraced dining room, offers delicious Western fare along with fabulous views of the Colorado River. So whatever is your fancy, the hotel's capable, experienced staff is eager to share all that Moab has to offer.
All the guest rooms are located along the water with either views of the Colorado River or of Castle Creek. The Colorado River views are particularly magnificent, especially as you watch the striking sunset.
A great place outdoors lovers and for those who appreciate a rustic experience with fabulous scenery in all directions.
The rooms and suites have been designed to capture the spirit of the West with solid log furniture, knotty pine accents and muted stucco palates. However, they are not without the modern amenities of today such as air-conditioning, coffee pot, microwave, refrigerator, separate dining area and full bathroom with tub and shower. They are more like cabins than individual rooms.

Red Cliffs Lodge is home to the Cowboy Grill which serves hearty meals warmly welcomed at the end of a busy day of adventure and exploration. The outdoor terraced dining room with its superb views of the Colorado River, the Fisher Towers and the towering red rock cliffs is more often than not the highlight for guests. The menu offers traditional western favourites like ranch fried steak, barbecued pork ribs and wild Alaskan kera Salmon. To make your meal even more delicious and relaxing you can of course chose one of the resort's vintage wines to complement it.
Activities in and around Red Cliffs Lodge are definitely ones suited to the more outdoorsy type of person. Explore the area on horseback, bike, foot or by raft. Guided tours are available to help you make the most of the area and this way you can also learn some local facts and history from an expert. If you want a true wild west experience then Redcliffs is a great option. Rustic suites face the Colorado River and are surrounded by red rock canyons which make for a truly memorable stay. Many films have been shot around this location due to the dramatic scenery including giant mesas protruding thousands of feet from the desert floor. In fact, this scenery has been featured in so many movies that the property has even has its own cinema museum and I loved the feel of being transported back in time to the Wild Wild West.

Although not as sophisticated as its next door neighbour, Sorrel River Ranch, Red Cliffs Lodge certainly shares the same beautiful location right on the Colorado River and a more relaxed and laid back feel. The staff were friendly and welcoming and gave a real warmth, This is the kind of place you can kick back, relax and just enjoy. The children will love the horses out in the field as well as the fun teepees to explore and the outdoor pool. All of the fun and activity of Moab is close by and if you wish to river raft the rafts float right past the hotel. Accommodation is comfortable although a bit of a throw back. Think more 3 star than 5 star however, the cabins by the river have a wonderful location, are spacious, clean and homely. Theyre also ideal for families with many having two bedrooms so room to spread out and make yourselves at home. The restaurant looks right over the river and although a table on the balcony isnt guaranteed there are plenty of them and its a great place to watch the sun set. Food is wholesome home cooked rather than gourmet although if you would like something a little more finer you can always head up to the restaurant at Sorrel River Ranch up the road. Red Cliffs may not be luxury, however, it has warmth, character and that amazing view and its not bad value for money either.
