Georgia and Armenia exude a unique Eurasian charm coupled with picture-perfect natural scenery, intriguing monastic culture, and fabulous food and wine. Idyllic and remote, Caucasus tops our list of coveted destinations for 2019. We highly recommend a journey to the verdant wine valleys of Georgia, where you can discover as many as 500 different species of grape and dive into 8,000 years of wine making history. In Armenia, a visit to the rock-cut monasteries for the angelic voices of a traditional Capella ensemble and the spectacular Mount Ararat views is a treat to both the eyes and ears.

With its rich biodiversity in the Volcanoes National Park and the Nyungwe Forest as well as the charming local people, Rwanda is on the top of our wish list. This popularity is only going to rise due to the increase in luxurious high-end property openings with a huge focus on conservation. This year we will see the opening of Magashi Camp by Wilderness, One & Only’s Nyungwe House and Singita’s Kwitonda Lodge.

There is nothing more enchanting than walking through 3,000 years of Egyptian history and civilisation immersing yourself in the sights of the great pyramids, ancient temples and bustling souks. After a long-awaited period for peace and stability, we are now confident to welcome Egypt back on the map in the coming year. The Grand Egyptian Museum, due to open in 2019, is the new home of King Tutankhamen’s tomb collection, for the first time the public will see all 5,000 pieces of relics in one place. We are now offering guests a first peek of the exhibits in an exclusive visit before its official debut. In February, the city skyline will see the addition of a new 37-storey tower – The St. Regis Cairo, right by the banks of the Nile.

Glamping on Bolivia's Salt Flats

Shimmering white plains, dreamy reflection of the sky, the Uyuni salt flats are one of the most stunning vistas on earth. The much-anticipated opening of Kachi Lodge next spring will bring to the salt flats its first permanent luxury accommodation. The futuristic-looking dome tents will not only shield you from the elements, but also provide a cosy base for excellent stargazing. You can also enjoy the experience as part of a glamping adventure, from one luxurious campsite to the next, journey through the wild and otherworldly landscapes of Bolivia's altiplano and Atacama Desert.

An intoxicating mezcla of soul stirring scenery, world class cuisine, captivating cities and passionate people, Portugal has long been on our radar as one of Europe’s most loved holiday destinations. For years it’s been a destination that’s promised sun and Pastéis de Nata right on our doorstep, yet it is the endless charm of Lisbon, the lush vineyards of the Douro Valley, the tantalising foodie scene of the Algarve and the untamed coastline of the Atlantic that have captured our attention once again, turning our heads – and our travel plans – back towards Portugal.

Iceland, a Nordic nirvana that wows nature lovers and thrills adventurers, sits top of many a bucket list. And with good reason. What Iceland lacks in size, it makes up for in natural wonder, confirming it as the perfect destination for an adventure packed holiday, a getaway with the kids or even a romantic break during either the summer or the winter. The land of fire and ice is ready for its moment in the spotlight, basked in the pinkish hues of the white phenomenon or the dazzling green of the Northern Lights.

The world’s fastest-growing locale, and both Travel + Leisure and Virtuoso’s top destination of 2019, Japan is poised to only grow in popularity. We loved it last year, and we still love it this year. For 2019 we are offering guests the rare opportunity to travel on-board the world’s most luxury train, Shiki-Shima. With reservations almost impossible to come by, this is a once in a life-time-opportunity to gain unprecedented access to journey through northeast Japan in complete style, luxury and comfort. Japan is also due to host some of the world’s most anticipated sporting events including the Rugby World Cup in 2019 and the Summer Olympics in 2020.

With climate change and ice sheets melting faster than ever before, we urge anyone who hasn't stepped foot on the seventh continent to visit Antarctica soon. Fly-cruise specialist Antarctica21's latest addition Magellan Explorer, will offer for the first time an air-cruise experience that's truly modern and luxury from start to finish. The year 2019 also sees the launch of the all-new Hondius by Oceanwide Expeditions, which is by far the world's most advanced and environmentally friendly vessel. And Aurora's new build Greg Mortimer will become the first expedition boat to introduce the X-BOW design, promising a gentler sailing in the Drake Passage.
