Walking Safaris in Zambia
Luangwa Valley, Zambia
Zambia is considered the best country in Africa for incredible walking safaris in either South Luangwa or Lower Zambezi (or a combination of both).
Walking safaris in the bush heighten your every sense to the sights and sounds of the wild. Accompanied by your expert guide you will rise early like the predators, and head out on foot to explore your area. Zambia's guides are the best of the best; and they will introduce you gently to the bush, teasing out all its secrets; whether the alarm calls of a troupe of baboons which indicate a predator nearby, vultures circling which may show the presence of a kill, or the clouds of dust which show that a herd of buffalo may be passing through.
When you meet game on foot, you will notice immediately that the animals recognise you as human. They keep their distance, and it's up to your guide to gently move you closer, if possible. Walking in the bush is all about the unseen surprises; run your hand along the smooth-polished wood of an elephant's favorite scratching tree; sniff the distinctive spicy scent of the wild basil herb, or the overwhelming sweetness of wild jasmine; place your foot or hand in the pug-marks of lions, marvelling at the size; and walk in the footsteps of hippos and elephant.
Walking in the bush is a never-to-be-forgotten experience; adventurous and exciting, and will leave you with a lasting and memorable impression of the wildness of Africa.
