Set in the City Bowl area of Cape Town, a walk around the Company's Garden is an introduction to the very origins of the city itself. Originally established in 1647, the Dutch East India Company used this garden to re-supply its ships passing the Cape.
Allow about 2 hours to explore this gem in the heart of the city. Originally established to re-supply trade ships of the Dutch East India Company as they passed the Cape of Good Hope, today it is a vibrant neighbourhood with a buzzing arts scene.
A range of historic building along 'Museum Mile' have been transformed into galleries and are well worth exploring. Step inside St George's Cathedral, designed by Sir Herbert Baker, and the South African Museum and Planetarium, home to over a million scientific specimen and an audiovisual experience that brings the African night sky alive and is great to prepare you for those starlit nights on safari.
