San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
Steeped in folklore and mysterious legends, a traditional Callejoneada is the perfect window into the stories of Guanajuato and its surrounding towns. Weave through the cobbled streets, following a local folk band who serenade crowds with folk songs.
A fun and unique way to experience the more traditional side of San Miguel de Allende or Guanajuato, a Callejoneada sees groups of locals following a traditional band in 17th century dress as they belt out classic Mexican folk songs to much appraisal and enthusiasm from the crowds. Follow along and be swept up by their infectious energy and join in with the lively dancing that takes place in the main square after the sun goes down.
Each Callejoneada follows a different route through the town but you can usually expect to cover a large part of the historic center.
