Thailand-Burma Railway Museum, War Cemeteries & Pak Preak Community

Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi and Ayutthaya, Thailand

A moving and fascinating tour, exploring the history of Kanchanaburi province. The Thailand-Burma Railway Museum and War Cemeteries are a poignant reminder of the thousands of POWs and forced laborers who lost their lives here in the Second World War.

You will visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Museum which is dedicated to the history of the Thailand-Burma Railway, infamously known as the 'Death Railway'. This is an educational and moving experience, as you will learn about the lives of the Prisoners of War and forced laborers as they toiled to build the railway and the notorious 'Bridge over the River Kwai'.

Next you will make a stop at the War Cemetery, the final resting place for over 6,000 allied POWs that worked and died in the area during the Japanese occupation.

You will also have the opportunity to stroll through the local Pak Preak community to see the charming  shophouses that were built during the reign of King Rama V (1868-1910).
