The Butterfly Trail & Rafting in Punakha

Punakha, Bhutan

Take the Butterfly Trail which is a one hour trek through local villages and paddy fields, stopping for tea in a local home before hiking to the Khamsum Yulley Chorten and then rafting back to the main Dzong of Punakha.

See Punakha in a little more detail by first taking a short one-hour trek through a forest awash with butterflies which leads out into a valley of terraced paddy fields.

You will pass by the local farmers at work, and stop for tea in a local home before climbing up to the Khamsum Yulley Chorten for amazing views of the valley and the river you will then cruise down.

Return to the Mo Chu River where your raft and experienced instructors will be waiting and slowly meander back to the Punakha Dzong. The rapids aren't at all too aggressive, this will be more of a gentle float with some fast moving water from place to place - needless to say it beats driving back to Punakha!
