Private Great Ocean Road Fly Drive Tour
Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia
Spend a day exploring one of the greatest driving routes in the world, with its world-class surf breaks, quaint seaside towns, deserted coves and towering cliffs, before boarding a light aircraft and seeing this spectacular landscape from the air.
This privately guided tour of Australia’s Great Ocean Road allows you to experience this incredible stretch of coastline from the ground and from the air. This morning you will be met at your accommodation by your private guide and will head out onto the road, bound for Bells Beach with its big waves and towering cliffs. This is one of Australia’s most iconic surf breaks, hosting one of the country’s most prestigious surf competitions since 1973. From here you’ll make your way to the town of Aireys Inlet, home to the Split Point Lighthouse. This coastal beacon is the saviour of many a seafarer who have sailed the treacherous ‘shipwreck coast’ of Australia.
Next stop is the seaside town of Lorne, backed by forests of gum trees and one of the Victoria’s first resort towns in the 19th century. Leaving the quaint vacation town behind, you’ll drive one of the more scenic stretches of the Great Ocean Road, bound for Apollo Bay, past soaring cliffs and deserted beaches. En-route, stop and visit the wild koalas of Kennett River and spot the crimson rosellas, cockatoos and king parrots that thrive in this little coastal town. On arrival in Apollo Bay, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, before boarding your light aircraft and taking to the skies above the Great Ocean Road. Soaring above this wild coastline, you’ll pass the famous 12 Apostles, Moonlight Head, The Cape Otway Light station, Gibson’s Steps and Loch Ard Gorge before touching down back in Apollo Bay. Your guide will meet you for your drive back to Melbourne, passing through the stunning Otway Ranges, before arriving back at your accommodation at approximately 6:00pm.
