Phuket Old Town Tour
Accompanied by your own English-speaking guide, you will travel through the streets of Phuket Old Town. In the 19th Century, Phuket was popular for tin mining, attracting many Chinese migrants. This Chinese influence can still be seen across many of the buildings, including those that have now been re-purposed into museums and restaurants. You will come across charming Sino-Portuguese buildings, as well as an impressive mansion which was once home to the island's former governor.
To gain a deeper understanding of Phuket's historical communities, you will visit the Thavorn Museum, which is housed in a hotel of the same name. This slightly quirky museum has an extensive collection of old photographs, posters, toys, typewriters and other everyday day items, as well some that are slightly more unusual.(Note: Thavorn Museum is still closed until further notice, so if the day visited fall during the time that the museum is still closed, the alternative visit will be Tung Ka Café with the viewpoint of Phuket Town)
The final stop of your tour will be at a downtown fruit market. Admire the bright colours and tempting scents, and should you wish, sample some of the seasonal fruit on offer.
This tour can start at around 8.30am or 1pm, and lasts approximately three hours.
