Santiago has been heralded for its rise up the gastronomy charts, and boasts an array of fantastic markets and gourmet restaurants. Enjoy a full-day cookery class in this energetic capital, now a firm favourite among foodies.
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel, heading for two of Santiago's main produce and fish markets; La Vega Central and Mercado Central. Pick up a selection of fresh and tasty ingredients accompanied by your guide, who will introduce you to their favourite stalls and vendors, or 'caseros' in Spanish. These are fabulous spots for watching local life go by and for interacting with the locals.
From central Santiago, you will take your ingredients to a private home in either Bellavista or the region of San Carlos de Apoquindo, which sits at the base of the Andes towering majestically over the edge of the city. Here you will learn to prepare a traditional Chilean meal utilising the fresh fish and produce from the markets. The dish depends on the season and you will also have the opportunity to learn the secret to creating pisco sour cocktails.
