Espiritu Santo Expedition

Baja California, Mexico

Few marine areas in the world compare with the biological richness found in the Sea of Cortez. Isla Espiritu Santo is a UNESCO heritage site, where you can swim with sea lions, spot blue footed boobie birds and snorkel or dive with giant whale sharks.

Spend the day exploring the Espiritu Santo Islands on your own private boat with an expert naturalist bi-lingual guide. Snorkel on a colourful reef surrounded by tropical fish, swim and play with sea lion pups, lunch on a white sand cove and swim with whale sharks.

One of the highlights is visiting Los Islotes, where one of the largest sealion colonies in Mexico is found. Young juveniles like nothing more than a snorkelling playmate to swim with and it's a delightful experience to be in the water with them. The island is also an important nesting site for birds, including the Blue Footed Boobie, an impressive bird with electric blue feet that is only found here and in the Galapagos Islands.

The whale shark, the largest fish in the ocean, also known as the gentle giant, can be found in large numbers from October to March but sightings can be made earlier in the season if you're lucky. These giant fish grow up to 12 metres in length and it is an experience of a life-time to swim or dive with them.

From Cabo, the trip is a full day experience, with a 6.30am pick up for a transfer to the charming town of La Paz where your expedition begins and the chance to stop in the Magical Town of Todos Santos on the transfer back. The expedition includes your private naturalist guide, round trip transfers, boat, snorkelling gear, lunch and beverages. A visit to Espiritu Santo is sure to be a highlight of your time in Baja California.
