Birdwatching at the San Jose Estuary

Home to more than 100 bird species, the San Jose Estuary has plenty to offer budding ornithologists. Explore the 125 acres of protected area, binoculars in tow to make the most of this fantastic wildlife experience.

Here you can find three endemic species; Belding's Yellowthroat, Gray Thrasher and Xantus' hummingbirds, along with a range of both resident and migrant birds. The estuary is one of the only sources of fresh water in Baja California and so is heavily relied upon by the abundant life that frequents the area meaning fantastic sightings are almost guaranteed.
