Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

In the western, central and eastern Bhutan you will mostly experience cold European-like weather. Winter lasts here from November to March. The Monsoon occurs between June and August when the temperature is normally between 8° and 21°C. October and November are arguably the best months, when the monsoon has passed and the skies are clear. The spring months of March, April and May are best for the flora, but it can be stormy as the monsoon builds up for July-September.

Description

Lechuna Heritage Lodge is located in the Haa Valley which is the second least populated valley in Bhutan making it a true destination for those looking to explore somewhere off the beaten track. Simple with limited facilities, this is a great base.

Lechuna Heritage Lodge is a traditional farmhouse with real Bhutanese heritage and one of the only hotels in the valley. Due to the untouched nature of this region, even though the accommodation is simple it provides a charming base from which to explore and is a brilliant way to feel immersed in the rural life of Bhutan.

The Haa Valley was only opened to foreign tourists in 2002 due to its proximity to the Tibetan border and the presence of an Indian and Bhutanese military base. Therefore it has remained fairly isolated and for those looking for something even more remote and unique than what the rest of Bhutan has to offer then this is the place to head to.

Please do note that it the hotel is very simple and you will be sharing bathrooms with other guests. There is a small dining room which can be quite dark but the outdoor terrace is nice for eating your meals while enjoying the views. There is also an intimate lounge for guests looking to relax and read a good book or have a bit of warmth after a day exploring the valley which does get cold in the winter. For what this property lacks in additional amenities and added luxuries it makes up in the unique and beautiful experience of being able to connect with the local area of Haa and rural life in Bhutan.

Accommodation

As an original traditional farmhouse, rooms at the property are all different sizes but simply and traditionally decorated. There are 7 rooms at Lechuna Heritage Lodge over two floors; 2 kings, 1 single, 3 twin and 1 triple so a good variety for guests. Please note, the bathrooms are shared between the rooms with toilets on each floor and the separate shower rooms on each floor.

Childcare

Lechuna Heritage Lodge does welcome children but it is not a family focused hotel.

Facilities

This small farmhouse has one restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating serving Himalayan cuisine from Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan. There is also a bar available with wine, beers and soft drinks available.

Activities

The main focus of Lechuna is definitely hiking the Haa Valley and exploring the Haatoe village. There are some incredible trekking options that are available for everyone no matter your ability or what your passions are; whether it’s the flora, fauna or simply enjoying the countryside in its entirety.
