South Africa is a year-round destination. The summers are generally warm and dry, while winters tend to be wet and cool, the rains brought on by fierce north westerly gales. Neither season experiences extremes of temperature, thanks to prevailing winds. Summer (Nov-Mar) is the hottest with temperatures 20-40°C. Mid season (Apr, May, Sep, Oct) temps between 10-30°C. Winter (from June- Aug) is the low season with temps 0-25°C.
Antarctic weather is a lesson in extremes. Antarctica is the world’s coldest, windiest and driest continent. During the summer months the winds abate considerably and the weather is surprisingly comfortable, averaging between 20 and 50F. Summertime also means 18-24 hours of sunlight which allows life to flourish for a brief summer period. Long days also allow extensive exploration by small ship cruise to Antarctica. Antarctic weather allows for a short season of cruising from November to March each year.
One of the most exciting trips available at this time, this once-in-a-lifetime journey combines the great wilderness of the Kruger National Park staying in one of Africa’s most exclusive safari lodges, followed by some luxurious downtime in Cape Town, and ending with the glaciated and remarkable landscapes of the Antarctic.
See lions, elephants, emperor penguins, and leopard seals all in one mind-blowing trip.
Arrive Johannesburg and connect onto your flight to Kruger National Park.
