Mountain restaurants in Val d`Isère

Skiing is hard work! The perfect excuse to have a nice big lunch on the mountain and experience some amazing Savoyard cuisine.

Mountain restaurants
L’Arbina - Tignes le Lac

On the first floor of this unpretentious two star hotel you will find a restaurant matching one you would be lucky to find in any four star property. Good value daily skier menu.

L'Armailly - Tignes les Brevières

A great place to reward yourself after the long ski from Val d’Isère. Fantastic rustic Savoyard dishes with friendly and efficient service at much more reasonable prices than the mountain restaurants in Val d’Isère. Keep an eye on the time so you don’t miss the lifts back from Tignes Le Lac to Val d’Isère.

Bar de l’Ouillette - Madeleine, Solaise

Open from 10am until the pistes close, Bar de l’Ouillette is located at the bottom of the green Madeleine run. It’s a good option for families, as lots of green runs surround it. The restaurant can also be accessed on foot, just a short walk from the top of the Solaise cable car. It serves a range of dishes including produce from the famous Chevallot bakery in town. Choices include soups, quiches, salads, beef filet and marinated chicken. Great place on a sunny day for a BBQ which is reasonably priced and very popular.

Le Bellevarde - Bellevarde

A very short ski from the top of the Olympique gondola, the restaurant’s large sun terrace offers panoramic views over the whole of the Espace Killy. This self-service restaurant is a bit pricey, but it’s a good stop off point for a hot chocolate or vin chaud. The cosy interior provides refuge from the cold with several fireplaces. Although only a short walk from the lift, this restaurant is not really ideal for pedestrians as it’s quite a steep and busy slope down.

Edelweiss - Mangard, Le Fornet

Half way down the Mangard run from Le Signal to the bottom of Le Fornet. Traditional lunch menu including steaks, salads and some Savoyard specials.

It’s a fairly challenging run to the restaurant and suitable for good skiers only. Beware they will only serve drinks from 12.30pm – 2.30pm even if there is space available. Access can be weather dependant.

La Datcha - Glacier Express, Solaise

Located just above the Glacier Express chair lift, with a self-service restaurant, outside soup bar and rotisserie. The Tipi bar next door is a good place to stop for a hot drink or to begin après in a relaxed atmosphere. Not that cheap considering it is self-service.

La Fruitière - Verte, La Daille

La Fruitière is considered to be one of the best table service restaurants on the mountain, although this may be based more on the atmosphere than the food, which has had mixed reviews in the past. It’s a great way to enjoy the atmosphere of the neighbouring Folie Douce but with better food and a good wine list, albeit at a considerably higher price. It is fairly child friendly, although it can get a little noisy.

Lo Soli - Bleuets, Tignes le Lac

Situated at the top of the Chaudannes chair lift from Tignes Le Lac, with stunning views of the valley and the Espace Killy, Lo Soli serves up an innovative take on traditional cuisine. Soak up the sun on the terrace whilst enjoying the rustic and filling Savoyard specials. L’Alpage next door is a good self-service option.

Loop Bar - Tignes le Lac

Loop Bar is in a great location right at the bottom of the Rosset and Trolles pistes in Tignes le Lac. It has a terrace where you can sit in the sun and watch skiers come down the piste. The lunch menu includes gourmet burgers, nachos and salads. Lunch is served between 12.00pm and 3.00pm and they also offer a breakfast menu between 10.00am and 12.00pm. Very popular with seasonaires.

La Peau de Vache - La Face, Bellevarde

A great restaurant located halfway down La Face piste, at the top of the Bellevarde Express chairlift. They offer a high quality and varied menu including salads, gourmet burgers (beef, veal, chicken, fish and duck), pasta, steaks, omelettes and desserts. Open from 9am to 5pm daily

Le Panoramic - Grande Motte, Tignes

One of the more sophisticated dining offerings over in Tignes, this restaurant is readily accessible to skiers and non-skiers (as long as they can travel over to Tignes), located at the top of the Grande Motte funicular from Val Claret. They are running a weekly Savoyarde dinner followed by a torchlit descent back down to Val Claret village.

La Sachette - Tignes Les Brevières

Not strictly on the mountain, La Sachette is located in the beautiful village of Tignes Les Brèvieres. It is a traditional Savoyard restaurant with sun terrace.

Le Signal - Vallon, Le Fornet

Contemporary restaurant at the top of Le Fornet cable car. Friendly service, serving French food, home made desserts and a wide range of wines. It also has a self-service restaurant with a good choice of simpler and lighter dishes. Serves good food and is good value for money in comparison to other mountain restaurants. Offers two sittings only 12.30pm and 2pm. Easily accessible for non-skiers.

La Tête de Solaise - Solaise

At the top of the Solaise cable car, La Tête de Solaise has both a self-service and a sit down restaurant. The self-service area can get quite crowded but serves reasonably priced good food with lots of options for adults and children. The sit down restaurant attached is very nice, reservations are recommended. On a sunny day the roof of the restaurant is lowered so guests can enjoy the sun and views of the mountain.

La Tovière - Tovière, Tignes

Located at the top of the Tommeuses chair lift, La Toviere is a self-service restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. It serves home made dishes, waffles, whipped cream hot chocolate and vin chaud. Relax in the deck chairs on the sun terrace and enjoy views of La Grande Motte.

Le Trifollet - Trifollet, La Daille

Le Trifollet is a table service restaurant with Savoyard rustic charm, serving local cuisine as well as home made pizzas, which they are renowned for. It has a great sun terrace for watching skiers go by which gets more sun later on in the season.

Les Tufs - La Daille

Les Tufs is a large chalet located at the bottom of the slopes in La Daille. It’s a cosy restaurant that serves family recipes made with high quality produce. There is also a snack bar on the terrace for those who want to get quickly back on the slopes.
