The brand new Val d’Isère app was released this week, giving those visiting the Val d’Isère and Tignes region an insight into how to best enjoy their holiday.

New for the 2015/16 winter season, the Val d’Isère tourist board have released their revamped app, designed to give holiday makers all of the information they need both on and off the slopes.

News feed

The home screen (above right) jumps straight into a rolling news feed of the events and listings for today and the coming days. Whether that be simple restaurant listings or details of key events in resort, the app can help decide how to plan out your day and show you a helpful map of how to get there.

Menu screen
As you can see, the menu screen is split into “Village” and “Ski”.

In the “Village” section, you have an abundance of information at your fingertips. Bars and restaurant listings, an events calendar, shopping, activities and much more.

Having this amazing amount of info at your fingertips is great but don’t forget, it’s not as useful as picking the brains of the amazingly knowledgeable Scott Dunn team in resort! They know all the inside tips and tricks of the best places to go.

It is on the slopes the Scott Dunn team can’t actually be with you. The 3D trail map in the “Ski” section provides amazing detail of the slopes and is so much easier than faffing around, folding a paper piste map on a chair lift.

The lift opening hours is another handy bit of information. You don’t want to be stuck over in Tignes or having to battle Le Face because you missed the last download on the Olympique gondola. Having the ski patrol phone number saved on the app is vital, should something happen on the slopes.

Design

The sleek black design and easy to use functions means that it is good to look at, easy to use and extremely practical. The majority of the app is already translated to English, leaving even those (like me) with minimal French skills to use the app with ease.

It’s an essential download for anyone coming to Val d’Isère this winter.

Download from the App Store and Google Play store.
