Days 1-4: Bogota
Begin in the capital, Bogota, a city with distinct neighbourhoods, each with its own character and charm. You will be transferred to your stylish hotel, located in an affluent district in the north of the city which is renowned for its galleries, excellent restaurants and lively nightlife. Surrounded by the Andes, Bogota offers spectacular scenery, and a cable car ride up to the peak of the neighbouring hill of Monserrate provides stunning views over the city and mountains beyond. After getting your bearings, wander the cobbled streets of La Candelaria, visiting a range of fascinating museums and galleries, before exploring the boutiques and markets of Zona Rosa for a spot of shopping.

Days 4-8: Cartagena, Colombia
From here, a short flight brings you to Cartagena on the Caribbean coast, a charming colonial city with plenty of character which invites visitors to wander for days and simply soak in the buzzing atmosphere. This walled city is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the Americas and was once the gateway for the Spanish empire in the New World. Cartagena's old quarter is a treasure trove of shady plazas, cobbled streets and lovely churches, a joy to gently explore in the Caribbean heat. If the city gets too much, opt to take a boat out to the Rosario Islands on a day-trip for white sand beaches and coral reefs, with refreshing waters to dive into and cool off. Alternatively, spend some time lounging poolside at your hotel, conveniently located in the heart of the old town.
