Tibet in Depth with Everest Base Camp

Known as one of the best overland journeys, we take you across the roof of the world from the land of snow in Lhasa into the exotic Kathmandu, passing through monasteries, alpine lakes, glaciers, some of the world's highest peaks, and of course, a hike into the Everest Base Camp.

1. Days 1-2: Chengdu, China

   Your first night will be spent in Chengdu before your early morning flight to Lhasa the next morning.

   Accommodation: Chengdu Airport Hotel (1 night)

2. Days 2-5: Lhasa

   As the capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, Lhasa harbours many cultural treasures such as the postcard-worthy Potala Palace, the bustling Barkhor Square, important monasteries such as Jokhang, Ganden and the interesting Sera where you can watch monks practice their debate.

   Accommodation: Shangri-La Hotel, Lhasa (3 nights)

3. Days 5-6: Gyantze

   Moving into Gyantze, we will pass through Yamdrok Lake where you will hang your praying flags, passing through scenic Kampa La and Karo La Pass before arriving into Pelkor Chode Monastery and Kumbum.

   Spend the next morning hiking into Gyantze Dong. And afterwards, make a visit to Pala Manor and Tashilungpo Monastery before arriving at Xigatze.

4. Days 6-7: Shigatse, Tibet, China

   The next morning, you will pass through spectacular sceneries of Tsuo La and Gyatso La passes and make a stop at Sakya Monastery before getting into Tingri where you will spend the night.

   Accommodation: Qomo Langzong Hotel (1 night)

5. Days 7-9: Tingri

   Tingri is an excellent base for a day trip into Everest Base Camp. You will start from Rongbuk Monastery where you will get a view of the Rongbuk Glacier and spend the entire day hiking into Everest Base Camp.

   Accommodation: Tingri Bebar Hotel (2 nights)

6. Days 9-10: Gyirong

   From Tingri to Gyirong, we will spend a day of spectacular scenic driving where you can see the peaks of Everest, Cho'oyo and Shishabangma before arriving into Gyirong where you will spend the night before crossing the border.

   Accommodation: Gyirong Port Hotel (1 night)

7. Days 10-11: Kathmandu

   After crossing the Friendship Bridge into Nepal, our Nepal representative will pick you up for your car transfer. The road gradually turns into lush green valleys with pine trees and wild flowers to welcome your arrival before you reach Kathmandu, the exotic capital of Nepal.

   You will spend the night in Kathmandu before flying home the next day. Optional extensions in Nepal can be arranged if you are able to extend your trip longer.
