Lanzhou
Tucked snugly between mountains with the Yellow River meandering through it, Lanzhou is the capital city of Gansu Province. Explore the Waterwheel Garden, an old irrigation tool built for the farming fields along the Yellow River.

Visit the Gansu Provincial Museum which boasts more than 75,000 cultural relics including Gansu color-painted pottery and bamboo slips for writing of the Han era. Take a boat ride to Binglingsi Grottoes (meaning “Thousand Buddha” in Tibetan) and witness some of the largest Buddha statues and frescoes in China.
