Kanas Lake
Situated in the valley of Altai Mountains at the northern Xinjiang, Kanas Lake is a force of natural beauty with its crescent moon-shaped lake. Large population of ethnic Tuvans and Kazakhs inhabit the Kanas valley. Today, it is also a major tourism spot for active hiking and rafting.

The lake was formed around 200,000 years ago as a result of glacial activities. Legend has it that there have been sightings of huge lake creatures, such as enormous fishes in 1985 measuring 10-15 metres long and weighing more than 4 tonnes!
