Nestled amidst an oasis of pristine British Columbia wilderness surrounded by natural grasslands, lakes, rivers and forest, Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort offers guests the opportunity to embrace the outdoors in a world-class luxury wilderness resort.
A National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World, Siwash is set in the heart of Canada's Cowboy Country, offering a five-star, all-inclusive resort and ranch, and a whole host of enriching adventures for guests who want to get off the-beaten path in the BC wilderness. Siwash is located within a rare eco-system, that is regenerating from a past forest fire, offering diverse landscapes to explore.
Siwash offers endless possibilities for exploring the wilderness. From horseback riding, waterfall fire-ecology hikes, mountain biking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, shooting, 3-D archery, fishing and swimming in the lake there is so much for the outdoor enthusiast. The ranch helicopter is ready to go for adventures into the wilderness to hike with not a soul around or pan for gold on remote rivers.
The SiwashSynergy™ Equine Experience still remains at the heart of the ranch. Each guest is given their own horse to ride for the duration of their stay. Whether you are a first time rider or fully accomplished, there will be a horse specially selected to meet your ability and personality. Learning about horsemanship is at the essence of the ranch ethos, so guests leave Siwash with a good understanding of the western style of riding and make the most out of their experience. Riding terrain doesn't get better than this, with sun-dappled trails and flower strewn meadows where you may spot the odd black bear.
Choose to sleep in cosy ranch-style rooms in the main lodge or in one of the suites in the hand hewn barn ideal for a family. Tuck in under canvas for an overnight adventure at the Siwash Star Camp™. Wherever you rest your head, you'll go to bed with a star-filled sky above, and wake surrounded by stunning landscapes.
All the rooms in the main ranch house are cosy and individually styled. There are 3 suites, that can accommodate a couple with generous space, or a family. The Siwash Suite features two bathrooms and two bedrooms, including a wood burning stove and claw foot tub. The Frontier Suite features a king bed and a spacious bathroom, with adjoining twin bedroom. The Cariboo Suite is located outside of the main ranch house, in the loft of the hand hewn barn, with two bedrooms and a separate lounge. For all rooms, expect a morning wake up call with tea and coffee and freshly baked pastries.
Children of all ages are welcome at Siwash in June, July and August, however the riding programme is most suited to children aged 7 and older. The remainder of the resorts activities are child friendly.
Dining is an occasion with all meals included in guests stay. Meals are most often served on the panoramic sundeck of the main Ranch House overlooking the sparkling lake and lush green meadows with black forest beyond. You will have your own private table for dining—alfresco style—on the deck. A sensational farm-to-table menu is presented for every meal of the day, created with love and care by the lodge's chef. Wherever possible, organic baby greens and vegetables from the garden as well as home grown beef and pork are used, enriched with wild berries, herbs and edible flowers for a memorable experience. The selection of BC wine is testament to why very little gets exported.
There is an abundance of activities available at the resort. Canoe, or swim, across the lake, have a go at the 3-D archery course, horseback ride through a fire-licked forest amongst a sea of fuchsia fire-weed, go mountain biking, hiking, fishing, skeet shooting or laze in a hammock and enjoy the view. Spend a night star gazing at the Siwash Star Camp™.
There’s plenty of fish in Siwash Lake and surrounding rivers. There is an on-site rearing pond at the ranch, where the angling guides coach guests in the art of fly-casting and fly-tying. The lake itself is stocked with 2-8lb. rainbow trout and with fat, sporty rainbows on your line, you'll find them to be exceedingly playful. The ranch helicopter is the most thrilling way to explore the wilderness – from wildlife viewing to heli-hiking a stunning mountain ridge. During this signature excursion, you’ll take an interpretive nature walk through the desert grasslands and sage strewn bench-lands above the mighty Fraser River. While stopped at the Fraser River, you can pan for gold like the old days, and study the First Nation petroglyphs at a secluded sandy bend of the riverbank.
The Crater Lake Waterfall and Fire Ecology Hike, a signature adventure for Siwash, weaves their wildfire story throughout. During this Siwash Naturalist hiking experience, you’ll learn about wildlife tracking, migration, habitats, flora, geology and more. On route you'll watch for wildlife sign and your guide will interpret the ecology of the area.

Arriving after a wonderful four and a half to five hour drive from Whistler through glorious mountain passes and crossing the mighty Fraser River we arrived at the gem which is Siwash. Allyson started her ranch twenty years ago when she rode in and camped under the famous tree which her deck is built around and has taken this remote wilderness to a wonderful level with her beautiful ranch hotel. We stayed in the luxurious two bedroom cabin/tents which boast central heating, heated under floor bathroom and outside shower, electricity and every mod con you could think of, but you are still 'camping' as you wake up to the sound of the birds and the views through the pines to Siwash Lake which are heavenly. Early morning coffee delivered to your room starts a perfect day and after a delicious breakfast you have a choice of riding, archery, skeet shooting, fly fishing, hiking, kayaking or swimming in their lake or foraging with their amazing chef Derek - nothing is too much trouble at Siwash. We passed days exploring the beautiful property on horseback, travelling to places like the magnificent Crater Lake, learning how to use a bow and arrow in their forests where there is an archery trail with life size animals to use as targets, catching trout from their lake under the watchful eye of Mike, hiking through their trails and having all our aches and pains massaged away by the magical Debbie. Such food, delicious wine and cocktails watching the sun go down over their deck and lake, wonderful staff and the background of the horses in the coral make this a glorious place to spend a few days or a week. Whether you come in by float plane, car or normal plane to the local airport, this hidden piece of paradise will be with you forever. Allyson's dream, which she willingly shares, is a fantastic experience for couples or families alike. You have a choice of 3 beautiful tent/cabins or lovely suites in the main house if you prefer to be closer to the main part of the ranch.
