Itinerary
This wonderful winter escape is the perfect solution to those winter blues. Fly less than 7-hours out to the cobbled streets of Montreal before heading on to the shores of a frozen lake and then finally to a wonderfully romantic mountain bolthole.
Your journey begins in Montreal. Step back in time as you discovered the cobbled streets of the old town, filled with art galleries and boutiques as well as inviting looking cafes and French restaurants. Take a stroll down to the river in the fresh crisp air before heading back into town for steaming hot chocolate or mulled wine. This itinerary includes a stay at the beautifully restored Ritz Carlton Montreal, just a short walk from shopping and also the Old Town. With stunning frescoes in the Palm Court room, it's perfect for an afternoon tea stop before retiring to your modern yet comfortable room to relax before dinner.
After 2 nights in Montreal this itinerary then takes you away from the city. A hire car is included and generally the roads are easily driveable despite the snow (they're more than used to it here). Head out to the Eastern Townships. A selection of small villages full of Canadian character a charm. Stop for teatime treats along the way, at boutiques and antique shops before arriving on the shores of Lake Massawippi where the warm welcome of Manoir Hovey awaits.
What better winter wonderland to arrive in. With snow covered lawns leading down to the often frozen over lake, sumptuous homely bedrooms complete with fireplaces and four poster beds and comfy chairs to curl up in, Manoir Hovey is just made for winter. Go snow shoeing, for sleigh rides or even ice fishing on the lake by day and by night enjoy sublime Relais et Chateaux dining at the hotel's restaurant.
If you can drag yourselves away, you finally depart Manoir Hovey and head back toward Montral again, this time bypassing the city and heading North to Mont Tremblant. If you enjoy downhill skiing you will be spoiled for choice here as the Mont Tremblant ski fields are only a short walk away.
You don't need to ski though, your final post of call is the indulgent Hotel Quintessence where every guest suite offers wonderful lake views and an open fireplace to totally relax in front of. Simply sit and enjoy this lovely hotel or head down for a spot of pampering in the spa, complete with an outdoor jacuzzi hot tub if you can bear the cold air to reach it. For the ultimate in romance, the hotel offers Clagetts Cabin, a stand alone private cabin complete with four poster bed and open fire with bathtub in front. A wonderfully special end to a week away from the world.
Drive just under 2-hours back to Montreal at the end of your week away for your overnight flight home.
