Average time to visit
Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. It starts to get wetter in May and the wettest months are September and October. It is still possible to visit during this time as rain usually falls as short sharp storms. November is a fantastic month to visit Cambodia as it is very green after the rainy season and the lakes and rivers are full of water.
To start planning your holiday to Raffles Le Royal
The grand and historic Raffles Hotel Le Royal is the premier address in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh. Not only is it an authentic luxury Art Deco hotel but it is also a true colonial classic, deep in the heart of this riverside city.
The most romantic and atmospheric hotel in Phnom Penh, Raffles Hotel Le Royal dates back to 1929 and has had a whole array of notable guests from writers and journalists to royalty stay over the years. After careful restoration, this historic hotel fulfils all the requirements of a modern world-class hotel in facilities and amenities without losing any of its an old-world colonial charm.
The 175 rooms are all tastefully decorated in Khmer and French colonial styles and range from State and Landmark Rooms through to various exquisite suites. Stay in the Jacqueline Kennedy Suite or the Charles De Gaulle Suite to follow in the footsteps of some of the famous celebrities and dignitaries who have stayed at the hotel over the many years.
Hotel le Royal is centred around a beautiful peaceful tropical garden courtyard and has two swimming pools. With five restaurants and bars to chose from which offer everything from poolside snacks to refined Cambodian cuisine to English afternoon tea and the tranquil Amrita Spa where you can indulge yourself after a day enjoying the city's attractions, Raffles is the perfect base for your stay in Phnom Penh.
There are 175 elegant rooms at Raffles Hotel Le Royal ranging from State Rooms to the expansive Royal Suite. The Personality Suites are each individually dedicated to famous dignitaries who have stayed at the hotel and contain artefacts and memorabilia associated with the guest.
Children are welcome at Raffles Hotel Le Royal and will be treated like royalty by the gentle staff but there are no specific facilities except for a family swimming pool and babysitting. There are also interconnecting rooms available.
Raffles Hotel Le Royal has five restaurants and bars so offers a great choice including French and traditional Khmer cuisine. There is an outdoor lap pool and a family fun pool inspired by the royal bathing pools. The pampering Amrita Spa offers carefully selected treatments and therapies from around the world and there is also a fully equipped gym, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room.
Within the hotel, the gardens, swimming pools, restaurants, spa and shops can provide hours of amusement on days when you want to relax and enjoy the hotel. Further afield Phnom Penh's numerous historical and cultural attractions abound and these can be enjoyed with a guide or independently.

Raffles Le Royal is THE address to stay at in Phnom Penh and is a welcome break from the busy streets of the capital. The style of the hotel is very colonial, with a deep history dating back to 1929. I was lucky enough to be staying in one of their 4 Personality Suites, which are located in the main building and offer lovely balconies overlooking the city. The service at the hotel was impeccable, and the dining options were varied. The highlight for me was having the 2 large swimming pools to relax by after a busy day of sightseeing - definitely a welcome break in that 30 degree heat!

From the moment you step off the busy streets of Phnom Penh and are greeted by one of the doormen at Raffles, all dressed up and with a big smile on their face, you feel as though you are going back in time. The hotel oozes history and one can only imagine the fascinating scenes that doormen past and present have witnessed. Walking along the corridors and passing suites named Charles De Gaulle and Somerset Maugham makes you realise how many important guests have stayed at this hotel. I would recommend trying to stay in the older main wing of the hotel as the rooms there are lovely, with lots of original features yet still very comfortable.
