Visit three of Indochina's best UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Luang Prabang, Angkor Temples and Hoi An all in one trip.
Luang Prabang is a hidden gem, filled with beautiful temples, authentic wooden houses and quiet streets alongside the river. We thoroughly recommend taking the time to visit here.
Siem Reap is a fun and lively town just a short distance from the magnificent Angkor Temple Complex, home to the iconic Angkor Wat, mysterious Ta Prohm and regal Angkor Thom.
Hoi An is a marvellous place to end your trip. Famous for its many tailor shops you could easily spend a happy day here, exploring the winding lanes and choosing the perfect fabrics for a brand new outfit, tailored in just a few days to fit your precise specifications.
Take in the highlights of three countries in just 10 days. This trip could be easily adapted to suit longer stays or to incorporate a few nights in a big city such as Hanoi, Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh.
The central region of Vietnam has a tropical climate, particularly around Hué and is divided into two distinguished seasons. The dry season (from March to August) has a maximum temperature of 40°C and the colder, rainy season (August to January) has temperatures that can go down to 19°C.
From March to August will be the best time to visit Hue, especially between March and April when the temperature is more pleasant, though rainfalls are still likely. Hue sees fog and rain quite frequently, even when the weather across the Hai Van Pass in nearby Danang is sunny. During the rainy season, between September and January, rain is more frequent and can be heavy.
There are several festivals in Hue and worth taking note in planning your travel. Each year, during the seventh month of the lunar year, Hue celebrates the Duong No ceremony, Vietnamese all souls’ days, and Hon Chen Temple Festival. In addition, every two years, there is a special Hue Festival which lasts for two weeks in June.
Explore the highlights of three countries in just 10 days, with this short but sweet trip around what we consider to be the best locations in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Staying in great value hotels and making the most of each day with exciting guided tours, this vacation is perfect for first time visitors to the area.
Your adventure begins in the sleepy town of Luang Prabang, nestled in a river valley amongst the verdant mountains of Laos. Spend three blissful nights here exploring the cobbled backstreets and colourful markets of this cultural capital. With your passionate local guide, tour around the gold mosaicked halls of the Royal Palace, discover the diversity of Lao culture in the Ethnology Museum, and peer inside the gloomy atrium of beautiful Wat Xieng Thong. Finish your day with a scramble to the summit of Mount Phousi to watch the sun set behind the mountains or sit quietly in a temple courtyard and allow the sound of monks chanting to drift around you. We have also included an exciting day trip out into the beautiful Laotian countryside to visit the famous Kuang Si Waterfalls. Walk up to the main cascade, passing many levels of cool, blue pools, perfect for a dip. Marvel at the main fall, or perhaps hike up to the top to take in the view from above. Before you leave, stop in at the sun bear sanctuary to see these native bears that have been rescued from loggers or the pet trade.
A short flight takes you over the border to Siem Reap in the north of Cambodia. This lively town is the gateway to the world-famous Angkor Archaeological Park, home to the iconic Angkor Wat. Your stay here is for three blissful nights, filling your days with exciting temple tours. With your guide, venture deep into the lesser known areas of the complex to discover crumbling temples almost entirely engulfed by the forest. Our expert guides know the quietest time at each location and will be able to effortlessly steer you away from the crowds, stopping for a delicious breakfast amongst the ruins. In the afternoon you can visit the more popular abandoned city of Angkor Thom, and the mysterious faces of Bayon before heading back to your hotel for a well-earned rest. Of course, you can’t visit Cambodia without wondering at the monumental Angkor Wat. We whole-heartedly recommend an early morning tour, so you can watch the sun rise over the temple, bleeding colour into the tranquil reflecting pools that surround it. This is a very popular experience, but your guide will be able to ensure you get the best view.
Another short flight takes you into Vietnam, to the UNESCO town of Hoi An. Spend your last few days in Indochina exploring this authentic and culturally rich little port town, home to streets flanked by colourful paper lanterns and the famous tailor shops which can create bespoke new garments in just a day or two. Two nights in the heart of the town will be perfect for exploring the many boutiques and riverside restaurants, and your guide will be able to show you some of the important historical buildings in the Old Town and show you around a typical morning market where you can pick up some souvenirs, tasty local snacks or fabric.
Your last two nights can be spent with a well earned relax on the beautiful China Beach, just a few minutes away from Hoi An. Indulge in spa treatments or dinner on the sand at one of the luxurious beach resorts here.
Experience the majesty of Angkor Wat with a short sunrise tour, the best time to visit this ancient monument and one of Southeast Asia's most important archaeological sites.
This is one of our favourite half-day experiences from Siem Reap; with specialist guides you'll avoid the crowds and head off by foot into the jungle temples before anyone else.
A fantastic way to see and experience this beguiling and enchanting destination. With an emphasis on culture you'll explore the backstreets and colourful markets, learning about the city's history.
Enjoy a full day tour of the fascinating UNESCO protected city of Luang Prabang, exploring the Royal Palace, shimmering temples, ancient streets and traditional art and ethnology centre. The day culminates in a climb to the top of Phousi Hill.
This fantastic tour is geared around avoiding the crowds, getting you to Ta Prohm, Ta Nei and Ta Keo at the quietest time of day. Ensconced in jungle, these temples are ideal for adventurous families and couples wanting an Indiana Jones experience!
