Hiking trails at Mashpi

Surround your sights and senses with this beautiful forest, exploring on foot on one of the walking trails from Mashpi Lodge. Pass giant ferns and fox fire funghi, watch clouds of butterflies bring color to a quiet corner of the forest and marvel at hidden waterfalls. There are two main trails here, Howler Monkey and Cucharillo, both of which link to tower number five of the canopy gondola system. You will be accompanied by a naturalist guide who will teach you all about the plants, insects and animals that are found in the Mindo cloudforest, and keeping a close eye out for anything interesting you pass along the way. Look out for monkeys crashing through the trees, and try to spot some of the incredible 500 species of bird found here. Both hiking trails are steep at times, but paths are clear and well laid out.
