Eating out in Mallorca can be a real treat, with an increasing emphasis on local cuisine, local produce and good cooking.

Located at the Sheraton Mallorca - the 5 star Arabella Golf Hotel in Son Vida, Plat d'Or restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine with Mallorcan influences created by Rafa Sánchez. This restaurant was awarded a Michelin star for seven consecutive years and its chef is one of the finest in Mallorca. The restaurant has been recently re-decorated and the kitchen offers elaborate cuisine based on local Balearic produce, there are lovely views over the golf course from the terrace. The hotel has an ongoing agreement with local co-operatives and producers so that it can always feature the best local ingredients in its culinary creations.

Restaurante Jardin - Puerto Alcudia

Macarena de Castro at Restaurante Jardin in Puerto Alcudia, not far from Pollenca, was awarded a Michelin star in 2012 - a first for a female head chef in Mallorca. She has had extensive international experience and her cooking has strong Mallorcan and Mediterranean influences. We recommend the tasting dishes, which are very good value and you won’t be disappointed by the wine list. The garden is a fabulous setting for summer dining and is a real treat on your villa chef’s day off.

Other restaurants

3/65 (Son Brull) - Pollença

3/65 is the restaurant of the beautiful Son Brull Hotel, a converted monastery approximately 1km outside of Pollença. The building was known by locals for its 365 windows, hence the restaurant’s name. It offers Mallorcan dishes with a focus on local produce (much of which is grown on the hotel’s grounds) within a fine dining experience. There is an extensive wine list, a great gin and tonic menu and the setting makes for a special evening.

Bellaverde - Port Pollença

3This vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Port Pollença is set in a tranquil courtyard where century-old fig trees provide a lovely shaded setting. A small but interesting menu, this is the only vegetarian restaurant in the north of the island.

There is a small play area for younger guests.

Ca n’Olesa - Pollença town

This pizzeria’s central location on the main square of Pollença offers a great atmosphere for outside dining with friendly and efficient staff. The pizzas are delicious and there are also a number of Mallorcan dishes on offer.

Cantonet - Pollença Town

In the old town of Pollença, this Italian family restaurant makes their own pasta and can cater for gluten intolerance too. Ravioli is the house specialty and there are a number of delicious combinations to sample. The restaurant has moved to new premises a short distance from the temple. Be sure to request a table outside in their garden terrace.

Es Guix - Lluc

This is a lovely little restaurant tucked away in a rural setting, with a menu featuring some of the Mallorcan staples and also (unusually for this island) some freshwater fish. The restaurant also has a natural spring, making for a very attractive setting. The brave can even take a refreshing dip in the spring water.

Il Giardino - Pollença town

In the main square of Pollença, this French/Italian restaurant is a great place to enjoy some good food while soaking up the atmosphere. On market day it’s a popular place for breakfast, with many people selecting their pastry from the patisserie next door and then coming to people watch over coffee. They offer a number of cheap and cheerful light lunch options and have a set price lunch menu as well. In the evening, there is a more extensive à la carte menu. Very family friendly, with children often stretching their legs with a good run around in the square in between courses.

La Fonda - Pollença town

La Fonda is a lovely little restaurant in a restored town house, just off the main Plaza Mayor square in Pollença town. It serves traditional Mallorcan and Spanish cuisine, with the menu consisting largely of fresh fish, but also a selection of meat dishes and tasty tapas.
