Danum Valley and Tabin

Sabah boasts many conservation areas, the most famous of which is Danum Valley, a 438 square kilometer area of pristine primary rainforest. Further west lies the Tabin Wildlife Reserve, and although this is secondary rather than primary rainforest, there are still ample opportunities to spot some of country’s most endangered species.

Danum Valley and Tabin

While obviously one of the main reasons to head into the rainforest is to try and catch site of the wildlife, the experience itself offers so much more than just animal-spotting. Both Danum Valley and Tabin Wildlife Reserve are wonderfully remote and provide the opportunity to really feel completely secluded and surrounded by nature; something that is getting harder and harder to achieve in today’s world.
