Little Mombo
  • Little Mombo Camp is located in the Moremi Central area of the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana.

  • The game viewing here is some of the best in Africa. The location means you don’t even need to leave your private plunge pool to see the giraffes, zebras and elephants.

  • With just four tented suites this makes for a very special intimate safari experience. It is an ideal camp to taken over for a small group

  • The tents are elevated just over two meters above the ground which enables game to wander freely through the camps - but still remains safe for guests.

Little Mombo is an extension on Mombo Camp situated on Mombo Island, adjoining the northern tip of Chief’s Island in the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. The camp’s three luxuriously furnished tents are raised high off the ground and adjoined by wooden walkways. This allows game to wander freely through the camp while at the same time enabling guests to maintain a safe distance. One often finds that animals take refuge under the rooms, making for some interesting night-time noises!

Each beautifully designed tented suite has its own entrance, sitting room with a bar, separate bedroom and bathroom areas with a dressing area, indoor and outdoor showers, double vanity and a separate toilet. Each private deck boasts a private plunge pool and swing bed that overlooks the Delta.

Mombo Island is surrounded by open floodplains and the camp itself is largely built in and around the shade of some large mangosteen, ebony and fig trees - overlooking a wonderful floodplain teeming with game. A plunge pool on the main deck makes a great place to relax in the heat of the day.

The highlight here is the concentration of plains game and all the predators with lion sightings being particularly good, and game even wandering straight through camp. Guests could also see leopard, large herds of buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, white rhino, hyena, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra.

The Mombo concession is said to have the best game viewing in Botswana. I had some fantastic leopard sightings in the area.
