According to our Africa team, a night spent sleeping under the vast African sky on a star bed is one of the most memorable experiences you can have whilst on safari.
However, the new star bed at the newly renovated Abu Camp in the Okavango Delta, Botswana has an extra element that is completely unique and found nowhere else in the world – sleeping next to Abu’s resident herd of elephants!
Abu Camp is Africa’s original and foremost elephant safari experience and the brand new star bed is set upon a beautifully constructed wooden platform above the elephant boma. The ‘downstairs area’ offers a stylish bathroom with shower, wooden sink, toilet and the much sought after Africology toiletries, also found in the main camp.
Stairs lead guests to the open skies with a large, four poster bed and sitting area. In true form to Abu Camp, everything is of the highest standard. Feather-down duvets and pillows, hot water bottles (for the chillier winter evenings!) and nothing but the noises of the bush, bright stars and the gentle, deep grumblings of the elephants conversing together to lull you gently to sleep…we can’t help but love it!
