  1. Have you enjoyed being editor of Days Like This?

I’ve loved editing this first issue of Days Like This. To create a new travel magazine is a dream brief and I’ve had some fascinating conversations with writers, photographers and Scott Dunn’s team of experts about the places they are so knowledgeable and passionate about.  It’s important to approach travel stories in the same way you would commission any other feature; in other words, with a strong sense of storytelling and personality, and with plenty of really authoritative comment and insight woven throughout.

  1. Where have you been most inspired to travel to from the magazine?

I think Oman. I’d never thought of going there, but our piece which describes the rugged interior of the country, and the ancient Arabic way of life there, made it sound so rare and fragile – the kind of place you want to visit before it changes. But I’d also love to stay in those cool Swedish treehouses we’ve featured too!

  1. What is your most memorable travel experience?

I have lots! Snorkelling above stingrays in Western Australia when the children were young. Being pulled over for speeding on a road trip with my then boyfriend, now husband, through Texas and New Mexico – we were taken off to the Sherriff’s office! My first ever real glimpse of New York in a cab from JFK.  A rickshaw ride through Old Delhi market.

  1. What do you always take on vacation with you?

Too many books, even in the era of the Kindle. For me, reading is one of the great pleasures of travel, often books that relate to where I’m going.

  1. Can you give us a sneak preview of what’s in the next issue?

A bit too early to say what’s in the next issue, but there are a few destinations on our radar that people are very excited about at the moment – the return of the tourist trade in Zimbabwe, which is great to see. A real buzz about Aspen and family vacations in the US in general. We want to find another local guide as brilliant as Fabio in issue 1, who was very entertaining and an absolute fount of knowledge on how to see Italy’s hidden cultural treasures.

We are seriously excited to launch our new magazine, Days Like This. Full of fantastic articles and travel inspiration, it brings to life the spirit, style and sheer excellence of Scott Dunn customized vacations.
