Santiago is a year round destination. In the Patagonian south, early summer can be lovely, and in late summer and autumn the colours are stunning. There are high winds in mid-summer but also the lowest chances of rainfall. At any time of year, Torres del Paine has its own microclimate: unpredictable. People will often tell you to expect all seasons in a single day.
Head to the jewel in Chile’s crown and one of the world’s best hiking destinations, Torres del Paine, to complete the wild, challenging and beautiful W Trek. Accompanied by expert guides and staying in unique eco-domes, you’ll encounter dazzling glaciers, crystalline lake and majestic granite peaks.
Your adventure begins in the buzzing Chilean capital of Santiago, a city with a thriving culinary scene and surrounded by some of the country’s best vineyards. You may choose to spend your free day here exploring Santiago’s diverse districts, following in the footsteps of literary great, Pablo Neruda or venturing out to the Aconcagua Valley to tour the stunning vineyards and sample the best of Chile's wines.
From here, fly south to Punta Arenas, Chile’s southern-most city and transfer into the heart of Torres del Paine National Park, a bucket list destination for any avid hiker. Whilst two of the six nights will be spent in typical W Trek accommodation, the remaining nights see you return to the award-winning EcoCamp, a quirky and eco set-up with luxurious touches that’s ideal for those looking for adventure and comfort.
Your W Trek adventure begins with a thrilling 'warm up' walk along the Cuernos Trail, leading to the beautiful Lake Nordenskjold. The next day is a challenging yet undeniably rewarding trek to the French Valley, which treats you to sweeping views over the valley and its impressive array of geological formations. The third day’s hiking takes in two majestic lakes: Lake Pehoe, famous for its clear mirror-like water reflecting the sharp granite formations of Cuernos del Paine; and the naturally beautiful Lake Grey, with its deep grey reflective waters. Hop aboard a boat here to sail out to see the huge Grey Glacier, part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and a natural wonder. Day four promises to be a truly memorable experience, completing one of the finest trekking trails in the Torres del Paine National Park. Enjoy outstanding views as you make your way up to the base of Las Torres (the Towers), a sight that is for many, the standout highlight of their time in this precious corner of the world. Your final day hiking this world-renowned trek is gentler than the day before but no less rewarding. Head first to the beautiful Laguna Azul and then the crystalline Lago Sarmiento before returning to EcoCamp to toast your adventure and your final night in the spectacular Torres del Paine.
Return to Punta Arenas and fly north for your final night back in Santiago.
The fifth day of this seven day trek will be a truly memorable experience, completing one of the finest trekking trails in the Torres del Paine National Park, the jewel in Chilean Patagonia's crown.
A glorious hiking day, heading out from Paine Grande Refugio along the shores of Lake Pehoe, with its crystalline waters, to the northern side of Lake Grey, with its icy clear waters.
From Punta Arenas, Chile's southernmost city, head out to EcoCamp Patagonia, located in the world-famous Torres del Paine National Park. On the way stop for lunch at Puerto Natales, a small town on the shores of the beautiful Seno de Ultima Esperanza.
Say goodbye to EcoCamp Patagonia and continue your onward journey. Whichever direction you're headed in today, it'll be a beautifully scenic ride to get there.
After yesterday's strenuous activity, today offers a more gentle walk but promises to be no less thrilling thanks to stunning views of the Patagonian steppe.
Today is a challenging yet rewarding trek to the Valle Frances (French Valley), along a steep trail that leads to the very heart of the Paine Massif.
Your Patagonian adventure starts today with a thrilling 'warm up' walk along the Cuernos Trail, leading to the beautiful Lake Nordenskjold.
