Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. It starts to get wetter in May and the wettest months are September and October. It is still possible to visit during this time as rain usually falls as short sharp storms. November is a fantastic month to visit Cambodia as it is very green after the rainy season and the lakes and rivers are full of water.

This short but action-packed itinerary takes in Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap, which is the base for exploring the incredible temples of Angkor. This is a fantastic introduction to one of Southeast Asia's most alluring countries.

  1. Days 1-2: Phnom Penh

Arrive in Phnom Penh for just one night in the capital where your enthusiastic guide will whisk you away for a private tour of the city’s historic highlights, as well as a sobering tour of key sights such as the S-21 Genocide museum and the Killing Fields, a tragic reminder of Cambodia’s bloody past under the Khmer Rouge regime of the late 1970s.

Accommodation: Raffles Le Royal (1 night)

  2. Days 2-6: Siem Reap & Angkor Wat

Take a short flight to Siem Reap, the gateway to the amazing Angkor Temple Complex. Stay in the lively town for four blissful nights, and we have included three temple tours. The first is to visit the more remote areas of the complex where the temples ruins are much quieter, and your experienced guide will be able to steer you away from the crowds. Marvel at these amazing crumbling structures, slowly being engulfed by the forest. In the afternoon you can explore the more popular sites of Angkor Thom and the mysterious faces at Bayon. And of course, no trip to Angkor is complete without a stop at the world-famous Angkor Wat. With your guide to recommend the best spot, watch the sun rise over this ancient monument. There is much to do in Siem Reap other than visit the temples, including cycling, zip lining, kayaking, fabulous restaurants and trendy boutiques. A short but sweet stay in Cambodia will leave you wanting to return.

Accommodation: Shinta Mani Shack (4 nights)

  • Angkor Wat at Sunrise

Experience the majesty of Angkor Wat with a short sunrise tour, the best time to visit this ancient monument and one of Southeast Asia's most important archaeological sites.

  • Phnom Penh and The Killing Fields

Experience the highlights of Phnom Penh before heading out to the green fields of Cheung Ek, known as The Killing Fields, to learn about the background and cruelty of the Khmer Rouge regime. This is a fascinating half-day tour.

  • Temples of the Forest

This fantastic tour is geared around avoiding the crowds, getting you to Ta Prohm, Ta Nei and Ta Keo at the quietest time of day. Ensconced in jungle, these temples are ideal for adventurous families and couples wanting an Indiana Jones experience!
