Within a converted brick-built mansion harking back to the 1930s Art Deco era, Chaptel Hangzhou is a luxury boutique hotel set at the heart of the world heritage West Lake scenic area of Hangzhou. Each room is situated in a Shikumen brick townhouse, ranging in size from the spacious and comfortable suites to the expansive townhouses, perfect for families, each with private terraces and access onto the central mews.
 
Rooms are elegant and luxurious, drawing on influences from the Art Deco period and atmospheric Shanghainese décor. Antique style furnishings and lacquer screens contrast with crisp white linen and opulent marble bathrooms to create a serene oasis amidst the bustling city. Set over multiple floors, each of the suites, townhouses and villas offers plenty of space to relax, with air conditioning and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout.
 
The hotel’s Lotus restaurant focuses on classical French flavours, serving up a sophisticated menu that includes grilled Wagyu beef, fresh seafood and traditional classics such as pan-fried Foie Gras. Housed inside one of the brick pavilions, Lotus also has a peaceful outdoor terrace for an al-fresco breakfast.
 
Whilst Chaptel Hangzhou doesn’t have a spa or swimming pool, the unique location positions you mere moments from West Lake.
